SNAN Celebrates 30 Years
Aiding The Animals
Marion Thompson was among the admitted animal lovers gathered for a celebration at My Place Restaurant on June 11.
Celebrating 30 years of fundraising for animal care in Newtown were Spay and Neuter Association Inc (SNAN) members including its President Ms Thompson who has been active with the club for 13 years, she said. âWhen I join, I stay joined,â she laughed. With her was Vice President and Treasurer Penny Meek â the only original member attending that day. Aside from celebrating the anniversary, members also held a mini auction and silent raffle to raise funds to help continue the groupâs mission to âmake a better world for out pets,â and humanely control the pet population through spay and neuter assistance.
âWe have a generous membership,â the women agreed.
The nonprofit, volunteer organization has more than 70 members and in the last three years has assisted with the spaying or neutering of an average of 230 cats and 130 dogs annually.
Joining the lunch date was Recording Secretary Linda Stott, Correspondence Secretary Barbara Lynch, and members coordinating the raffle, Ann Manley and Glenn Blake. Seated throughout the room were roughly 20 other members gathered to enjoy lunch, cake, and bid on raffle and auction items.
The SNAN members meet once a month on the third Wednesday at the C.H. Booth Library. Juneâs lunch date replaced the regular meeting. For more information on SNAN contact Ms Thompson at 203-426-0253
