Sex Charges
Police report that on June 14 they charged two youths under age 18 on warrants with sex offenses in connection with a past incident.
Police said they charged one youth with two counts of fourth-degree sexual assault and charged the other youth with one count of risk of injury or impairing the morals of a child.
Police did not disclose the specifics of the incident, which was reported to them in late March.
Following arrest processing, both youths were released from custody on written promises to appear in court. Because the people charged with the crimes are under age 18, their identities are shielded from public disclosure by state law.
Bicycles Found
Police received a report about 1:30 pm on June 11 that two bicycles had been found in the area near the intersection of Sugar Street (Route 302) and Head Oâ Meadow Road.
Police said the owner or owners of the bicycles may claim the bikes by contacting police at the police station at 3 Main Street, telephone 203-426-5841, and describing the bikes.
Vehicular Violations
Police report that they spotted motorist Matthew Gerry, 24, of 10-B Washington Avenue driving a 1994 Toyota Celica eastward on Schoolhouse Hill Road at its intersection with Hanover Road at about 4:50 pm on June 12.
The Toyota did not have a front marker plate and Gerry did not stop for a stop sign at the intersection, police report.
Police stopped Gerry and charged him with failure to display a front marker plate and with violating a stop sign.
Additionally, police said they learned of a warrant pending against Gerry and then charged him with second-degree failure to appear in court and with driving a vehicle with a suspended registration.
After processing, police released Gerry on $500 bail for a June 26 appearance at Danbury Superior Court.
NHS Incident
Police report that a fight occurred at Newtown High School about 3:48 pm on June 13. The physical altercation occurred between two students, police said.
Following an investigation, police charged Karisma Aarons, 18, of 35 Button Shop Road with breach of peace. Aarons was released on a written promise to appear in court on June 26.
Also, police charged a 17-year-old student with breach of peace and with illegal possession of tobacco by a minor.
The unidentified 17-year-old was released on a written promise to appear in court on June 25. Because that person is under age 18, the studentâs identity is shielded from disclosure by state law.
Sand Hill Plaza
Police report a two-vehicle accident at Sand Hill Plazaâs northern intersection with South Main Street about 12:28 pm on June 11.
In that incident, motorist Kayla Lashway, 27, of New Milford, who was driving a 2011 Hyundai Elantra, struck a 2008 Ford Expedition driven by Karen Echeverria, 46, of 4 Winton Farm Road, police said.
There were no injuries. Lashway received a written warning for failure to drive a reasonable distance apart, according to police.
Berkshire Road
A two-vehicle accident occurred near 25 Berkshire Road about 12:18 pm on June 9, according to police.
In that accident, motorist Kaleb Rowe, 17, of 5 Russett Road, who was driving a 2004 Subaru Outback station wagon southward, was struck from behind by southbound motorist Nicholas Lafky, 16, of 65 Mohawk Trail, who was driving a 2002 Volkswagen Passat sedan, police said.
There were no injuries. Lafky received a written warning for following too closely, police said.
School Bus
A two-vehicle accident involving a local school bus occurred at the exitway from Newtown High School about 2:19 pm on June 13, according to police.
Ronald Smith, 65, of 26 Philo Curtis Road, who was driving a school bus carrying passengers, was exiting the school property at Berkshire Road and then stopped, after which the bus was struck from behind by motorist Brandon Hart, 18, of 10 Equestrian Ridge Road, who was driving a 2010 Ford Escape SUV, police said.
There were no injuries. Police took no enforcement.

Silver Necklace
Police are holding for safekeeping a silver necklace with an attached medallion that was apparently lost by someone who was participating in the Relay For Life fundraising event held in early June on the grounds near the Newtown Youth Academy at 4 Primrose Street at Fairfield Hills.
The itemâs owner may contact police Officer Scott Ruszczyk at the police station at 3 Main Street, telephone 203-426-5841, to claim the item.
Evading
Police said this week they are seeking information about a two-vehicle accident that occurred about 7 pm on June 17 at the intersection of Hanover Road and Schoolhouse Hill Road.
Police said that the driver of a silver- or gray-colored Honda that was involved in the crash drove away from the scene after the collision.

Lakeview Terrace
Police said this week they are seeking information from the public concerning a one-vehicle accident that happened about 12:05 am on June 2 near 57 Lakeview Terrace near Lake Zoar in Sandy Hook.
Police report that some person was driving a Jeep which drove off the road and then struck a tree head-on alongside the westbound road shoulder. The Jeep driver left the scene of the crash before police arrived.

Glen Road
Police report a two-vehicle accident in the parking lot at Rocky Glen Mill at 75 Glen Road in Sandy Hook about 1 pm on June 13.
In that incident, motorist Christina Ciamarra, 20, of 3 Avalon Way, who was driving a 2012 Honda Civic sedan, was backing out of a parking space, when the Honda collided with a 2009 Chevrolet Aveo sedan being driven in the parking lot by Shauna Smith, 23, of 6 Washbrook Road, police report.
There were no injuries. Police took no enforcement.
Swamp Road
Police report that at about 9:12 am on June 15, they stopped motorist Wemerson DosSantos, 32, of Bridgeport near 21 Swamp Road after a laser-based speed monitoring device showed that DosSantos was driving 48 miles per hour in posted 25-mph zone.
Police said they charged DosSantos with traveling too fast and with driving with a suspended license.
DosSantos was released on $100 bail for a June 28 court appearance, police said.
Wrong Way/DUI
State police said they received several telephone calls about 1 am on June 10 concerning a motorist who was driving eastward on westbound Interstate 84, near the Exit 10 interchange.
State police said the driver then corrected the wrong-way problem and then drove westward on westbound I-84, after which state police found and then stopped the driver near Exit 8 in Bethel.
State police said they charged Lakmir Dullat, 49, of Danbury with driving the wrong way on a highway, driving under the influence, failure to drive in the proper lane, failure to drive to the right, disobeying a police officerâs signal to stop, and failure to wear a seatbelt.
State police released Dullat on bail for a June 25 court appearance.
Rear-Ender
State police report that motorist Daniel Moore, 43, of Marshfield, Mass., who was driving a 2008 Chevrolet Trailblazer SUV eastward on Interstate 84 just west of the Exit 9 off-ramp at about 5:43 pm on June 14, stopped and was waiting due to traffic conditions, after which the Chevrolet was struck from behind by eastbound motorist Rachael Babecki, 20, of Guilford, who was driving a 2001 Honda Civic.
There were no injuries. Enforcement information was not available.
Truck Vs Deer
Robert Jenner, 39, of Bath, N.C., was driving a 2004 Nissan Titan pickup truck carrying four passengers eastward on Interstate 84 at about 7:05 am on June 14, when the truck collided with a deer, heavily damaging the truck, state police said. There were no injuries.
Rollover Crash
State police report that at about 6:49 pm on June 12, motorist E. Christenbury, 48, of New Paltz, N.Y., was driving a 2002 Ford SUV eastward on Interstate 84, west of Exit 10, when the vehicle went off the left side of the road onto the median and then rolled over several times.
Both Christenbury and Ford passenger Veronica Soto, 29, of East Hartford were transported by the Newtown Volunteer Ambulance Corps to Danbury Hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries, state police aid.
Enforcement information was not available.

Concrete Barrier
Motorist Angel Melchor, 28, of Meriden was driving a 2000 Dodge Caravan minivan on eastbound Interstate 84, west of Exit 11, about 8:06 am on June 13 when Melchor lost control of the vehicle and then struck some concrete barrier rail along the side the highway, state police said.
Melchor was not injured. Enforcement information was not available.
DUI Arrest
Police said they received a report about 7:22 pm on June 16 that a motorist was driving erratically northward on South Main Street, so they investigated.
Police said they found the motorist in question at the intersection of Wasserman Way and Route 34 and then investigated, charging Arthur Bauer, 64, of 64 Glen Road with driving under the influence.
After processing the case, police released Bauer on $26 bail for a July 3 appearance in Danbury Superior Court.
Valuable Ring
Police said this week they are still seeking to locate the owner of a gold engagement ring that was found in the parking lot near Caraluzziâs Food Market at 5 Queen Street on April 30. The ring is engraved with initials and an anniversary date. The owner may claim it at the police station at 3 Main Street, telephone 203-426-5841.
Theft From Vehicle
Police report that sometime on June 13 or June 14, someone stole approximately $1,300 worth of equipment from a TriWire-brand truck that was parked at 77 South Main Street. Police are investigating the theft and ask anyone with information on the incident to contact them at 203-426-5841.
Hawleyville Crash
Police said that motorist Frank Fuchs, 74, of 10 Nelson Lane, who was driving a 2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee northward on Hawleyville Road about 10:52 am on June 17, stopped and was waiting to make a left turn onto Old Hawleyville Road, when the Jeep was struck from behind by northbound motorist Danielle Hawley, 22, of Monroe, who was driving a 2003 Volkswagen Jetta.
There were no injuries. Police said they issued Hawley a written warning for following too closely.
Motorcycle Crash
Motorcyclist Daniel Korin, 22, of Bethel, who was driving a 2006 Yamaha eastward on Plumtrees Road at about 12:58 pm on June 17, went past a stop sign at Plumtrees Roadâs intersection with Taunton Hill Road, police report.
The motorcycle then struck some curbing along Great Hill Road at its intersection with Taunton Hill Road, police said.
That impact caused Korin to be thrown from the motorcycle, according to police. Korin was transported for treatment of injuries at a hospital, police said. Hawleyville firefighters responded to the accident. Enforcement action is pending, police said.
Hawleyville Break-Ins
Police said they are investigating burglaries/larcenies having occurred at the facilities of three businesses at 144 Mt Pleasant Road in Hawleyville.
Police said they received an initial report on the matter about 7 am on June 20. The three businesses reported that someone had broken into their buildings or storage trailers and had stolen property from within. The businesses are: Newtown Mulch, Payneâs Landscaping, and Timber Stone LLC, police said.
