Henna Body Art Workshop At C.H. Booth Library

Newtown resident Parul Patel is excited to present a special workshop for young people on the art of Mehndi henna temporary body art, Saturday, July 7, from 1:30 to 3:30 pm, at the C.H. Booth Library.

Ms Patel has been a professional natural henna artist for more than 15 years, and is a licensed cosmetologist.

The workshop will cover a brief background about henna; step-by-step instructions on making henna paste and cones; hands-on demonstration of how to apply henna; reusable practice templates to learn simple traditional designs; natural henna cones to use on the templates in class or at home; an introduction to glitter henna art; and a list of simple, natural remedies to maintain the henna color longer.

Ms Patel will provide all materials and demonstrate the art of Mehndi all-natural henna temporary tattoos. Participants will be able to practice using templates and natural henna cones to make simple traditional designs.  Each participant will receive a small hand tattoo from Ms Patel.

The workshop is limited to 15 young people in rising grades 6 through 12. A materials fee of $5 is payable at the program. Students will have the opportunity to purchase additional henna cones, glitter cones, and other supplies at the end of the class, at additional cost.
