Adopt A Dog From The Pound

The following dogs are among those available for adoption from the Newtown pound, which is located at the end of Ethan Allen Road (behind the transfer station).

MISTY is an 11 month old black and white spayed female of the “Heinz 57” variety. Misty can become a devoted companion for a good many years to come. She is a very sweet dog and would be great with children, dogs, and cats.

LUCKY is a male Akita mix, approximately 5 years old. Mostly black with a nice white chest and paws, this very handsome boy weighs in at about 85 pounds. He has a strikingly intelligent face with penetrating medium amber eyes. He loves to be petted, and is good with adults and dogs. Lucky would make a great companion for an older person because he is a very laid back.

Newtown Animal Control will pay for the first two classes of training for both of these dogs.

If you wish to adopt, please call Newtown Animal Control at 203-426-6900 or Canine Advocates at 203-426-5327. Canine Advocates of Newtown, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit volunteer group, raises funds to spay/neuter and provide shots against DHLPP and rabies for all of the Newtown Pound cats and dogs. CAN also provides a free training DVD and Beyond Obedience Dog Training offers one free individual training lesson to adopters. If you cannot adopt but would like to help, please send your donation to Canine Advocates, PO Box 236, Newtown, CT 06470. Visit canineadvocates.org or call 203-426-5327 to volunteer.
