Watercolor Demo At SCAN
The Society of Creative Arts of Newtown (SCAN) will host Ralph Acosta for a watercolor painting demonstration on Wednesday, June 27, at 1:30 pm. His subject will be a costal landscape.
This program will be in the lower level of Newtown Meeting House, 31 Main Street (at the flagpole). Non-members are welcome to attend.
Mr Acosta resides in Stonington and conducts three- and five-day workshops at his Stone Eagle studio each year. He began his art career painting portraits in oil. His interest in watercolor grew when he was introduced to and began studying with Edgar Whitney, renowned watercolor artist and teacher.
Mr Acosta developed his individual style while studying with Whitney at the National Art League in Douglaston, N.Y. He has been the recipient of many awards in New York and New England, including the Macowin Tuttle Award, which is a first place award at the Salmagundi Club National Members Exhibition in New York City.
He has also won awards from Hudson Valley Art Association and Newport Art Museum as well as first place awards at various outdoor shows.
Mr Acosta is represented by the Courtyard Gallery in Mystic.
