Girls U12
Newtown 7, Trumbull 3 â Brittany Tolla scored four goals while Lindsay Jossick scored two to lead Newtown past Trumbull for the South-West District title. Stephanie Roman scored and Katie Shirley added an assist. Kristy Papaj, Kristen Grabowski and Tressa Scott remained tough in defense while Kelly Brooks, Julia Trudell and Amy Martin were solid in mid-field.

Newington Wrap-Up Tournament
Hebron 3, Lightning 0 â The Lightning had trouble finding their form in the first game of the tournament, as the Newtown girls went scoreless against a powerful Hebron team.
Newtown 2, Simsbury 0 â The Lightning regained their footing in game two with a solid victory over Simsbury. Jessica Kellerâs skillful ball-handling helped jump-start the game, and she scored the first goal on a penalty kick. Emily Riley was also great on offense, scoring the second goal for Newtown. Siena Cicarelli was solid on D and Dale Shearin and Amy Martinelli were tough in the nets.
Newtown 3, Watertown 0 â In another shut-out, a well-organized Lightning team defeated Watertown. Megan Meyer, Kailee Dunnigan and Jessica Keller scored for Newtown. Dale Shearin had a good game in midfield while Taylor Lafave and Meaghan Brophy anchored the defense. Goalkeepers Shelby Tolla and Meghan Korchman both performed well.
Newtown 5, Berlin 1 â The Lightning dominated Berlin in the final game of the tournament. Megan Meyer had an excellent all-around game, scoring two for the Lightning. Emily Riley, Dale Shearin, and Amy Martinelli each scored one apiece. Kailee Dunnigan and Jessica Keller were a force on defense, preventing Berlin from penetrating the backfield. Sarah Lynch, Taylor Lafave and Cassie Fischer shared goal duties.

Fatherâs Day Tournament
North Kingston, Rhode Island
White Lightning 8, Ocean State, Rhode Island 0 â Ryan King scored a pair of goals as Sawyer Conrad, Kaj Djonne, Kevin Droniak, Constant Gregoire, Clay Gattey and Dillon Wikramanayake all scored solos in the rout. Brenton Scott set up several of the scores as the playmaker and every player had a hand in at least one of the scores. Kevin Ovendorf took the shutout in goal. Graham Hubbert controlled the defense.
White Lightning 8, Wethersfield 2 â Constant Gregoire, Brenton Scott and Clay Gattey scored two goals apiece while Sawyer Conrad and Nathyn Horvath added solos to lead Newtown. Kaj Djonne and Luca Imbimbo had two assists each. Knute Jonson and Graham Hubbert were fantastic on defense shutting down any offensive threat.
White Lightning 5, North Kingston, Rhode Island 1 â Ryan King and Luca Imbimbo scored two goals apiece and Brenton Scott added a solo to lead the Lightning. Kaj Djonne, Kevin Droniak and Nathyn Horvath had assists. Kevin Ovendorf came out from the net to also notch an assist and Sawyer Conrad had over 10 saves in goal. Dillon Wikramanayake and Knute Johnson were dominant on defense stopping all offensive plays. The locals concluded the season at 11-2-3, with seven consecutive wins to close out the schedule.

Boys U14
Liverpool 1, TNT 0 â Tyler Hanna scored the lone goal off a cross from Luke Shearin to lead undefeated Liverpool past TNT for the Boys U14 championship. Dieter Gutbrod was solid on defense while midfielder Gavin Scallon kept up the offensive pressure. For TNT, Kyle Wildman played well up front, Hunter Bassett and Ricky Fuentes were both strong in midfield and Peter Kerns anchored the D.
Liverpool 3, Dynamite 0 â Josh Branchflower scored two goals (one a header off a corner kick from Jake Tolson) to lead Liverpool to the win. Bobby Mascher and Luke Piazza combined for the shutout. For the Dynamite, Brett Pearce and Tanner Janesky were strong on offense, Ryan LeMay was very active at midfield and Mac Morlock made a number of saves in goal.
TNT 2, Meteors 1 â Peter Kerns scored two goals to lead TNT to the win. Tommy Cassin, Tom Giarratano and Dan Olszewski had strong games. For the Meteors, Kieran Lardner scored the only goal with an assist by RJ Roman. Austin Isola and Ian Lew played well.
TNT 2, Dynamite 0 â Miles Dobbrow and Peter Kerns each notched a goal to take TNT to victory. Blake Obre-Untied and Tommy Cassin were strong in offense while Kyle Wildman anchored the defense. For the Dynamite, Craig Frigon played well as striker while Andy Hsu was powerful in midfield. Tom Bernath controlled the defense and Mac Morlock was affective as keeper.
Meteors 4, Eliminators 0 â RJ Roman and Kieran Lardner scored two goals each to lead the Meteors. Ethan Perkus provided three assists as Doug Brede anchored the defense. For the Eliminators, Patrick Haggerty and Kevin Pister powered the defense while Robby Russo and Nathan Norwich patrolled midfield.
Meteors 5, Golden Toasters 4 â
Kieran Lardner scored four goals to power the Meteors. Chad Cullens provided two assists and Ethan Perkus contributed an assist. Jake Moore and Doug Brede played well. For the Toasters, Tyler Ruefenacht and Francis Saraceni scored two goals each. Daniel Hamar played a great all round game as Grant Ricketts and Tom Ermis did a great job in goal.
Girls U14
Hurricanes 3, Turf Trashers 1 â Marilyn LaCroce, Samantha Whitley and Elena Unschuld all scored to lead the Hurricanes to the win.
Hurricanes 4, Dominators 3 â Christie Iorfino scored a pair of goals while Elena Unschuld and Kristen DeGirolamo added solos in the win. Samantha Whitley, Marilyn LaCroce and Jesica Haitz played well.
Sharpshooters 3, Piranhas 1 â Jane Sclafani, Jenna Bonaccorso and Alessandra Delia scored to lead the Sharpshooters to the win. Sarah McMahon, Gabriela Kalinowski and Lauren Meyer provided assists. Audra Sarna scored the lone Piranha goal with assists from Emma Iannini and Jessica McDonald. Emily Rowe and Nicole Haghpanah played very strong defense.
Boys U10
Camel Shards 4, Scorpions 2 â Daniel Colucci scored twice with Henry Summ and John Carlson each adding a goal to lead the Shards to the win. Thomas Meier assisted with great play in the goal. For the Scorpions, Patrick Rowley scored a pair of goals with Kyle Watkins and Max Galassi playing strong games on the front line. Tyler Dullinger kept the game close with a great on both sides of the field.
Oskars 6, Red Bulls 3 â Spencer Tolson scored three goals to lead the Oskars to the win. Nick Norberg also scored and Alex Hersh had a great game. For the Red Bulls, Jordan Abraham, Carter Nordman and Alex Gerbo all scored.
Huskies 4, Camel Shards 1 â Matt Barra scored twice and Zachary Pollack and Colin Reilly each netted a goal to lead the Huskies. Nick Klein and Travis Hanna led the defense. For the Camel Shards, Joshua Tuffy scored a goal and John Carlson kept up the offensive pressure. Henry Summ had a great game all around and Curtis Giles anchored the defense.
Oskars 1, Wolverines 0 â Spencer Tolson scoring the only goal in the win for the Oskars. Mustafa Sakhi played well in the net and Nick Norberg had a very strong game. For the Wolverines, Thomas Rahr, Brandon Rodriguez, Alec Bedini, Eric Von Schleusingen and Tim Vogelman played well.
Girls U10
Comets 1, Twisters 1 â Tricia Sullivan scored the lone goal for the Comets as Noelle Veillette and Courtney Datin had strong offensive performances. Sophia Devivo and Kat Jennings shored up the defense. For the Twisters, Hope McMorran scored the goal. Jenna Hansen was strong in goal, Emily Turco and Amanda Martinez did well on defense and Haley Trudell and Emily Campbell led on offense.
Mad Monkeys 1, Tie Dye Tigers 0 â Caitlin Filiato scored the lone goal to lift the Monkeys to the win. Emily Clark played an outstanding game in goal as Kristin Yapp, Veronica Moyer and Sarah Lampel anchored the D. For the Tigers, Kerry Scallon, Emily Grimes and Ashley Marks played great all around while Jesse Sailer and Jamie Duncan were great in goal.
Boys U8
Lightning Bolts 4, Blasters 1 â Matt Bucci scored three goals and Matthew Kretz added another for the Bolts. Danny Gruber and Ben Dieckman played great on defense. Dylan Kretz and John McCann were outstanding on offense. For the Blasters, Jack Riley scored as Connor Barrett and Grant Larson played great on defense. Kelland Chrystie had a nice game on offense.
Girls U8
Fighting Irish 4, Pink Panthers 1 â Megan Kelleher, Isabella Luciano, Alexandra Manoni and Lauren Villamana all scored to lead the Irish to the win. Julia Scarangella played great on both sides of the ball and Lyndsey Francisco had a tremendous game on offense.
Happy Hippos 1, Mustangs 0 â Meghan Doyle scored the only goal in the win. Stephanie Haas played an outstanding game on offense as Amanda Albanesi, Maria Ringes and Katerina Ringes played strong defensive games.
Killers 1, Pink Panthers 1 â Anna Biondi scored for the Killers Grace Larson played a great overall game. Emily Neave and Danielle Mola played great on defense.
