Tough Decisions
Tough Decisions
To the Editor:
Thank you Board of Education for your tough decisionmaking at Tuesday nightâs meeting. You had to come up with cuts in excess of $1 million. There was a very real possibility we were going to loose four second grade teachers (one in each elementary school) next year, creating a significant rise in class size for these students. Some of you stuck to your guns, and were adamant that cuts needed to come from other places, and not the classroom. Eventually, cuts were found elsewhere, and these four teaching positions were saved. I appreciate those membersâ commitment to these and all students.
In the end, I believe the board made their cuts in places that minimizes the impact on student learning.
Parents, if you have an objection to cuts that were made, make sure you ask yourself first âDid my vote, or lack of vote help contribute to this?â before you complain.
