Police Arrest Two Teens After

HS Prank

Midday on June 14, police arrested two seniors at Newtown High School, charging each one with cruelty to animals and with disorderly conduct following a prank that they allegedly staged in a hallway there.

Police said that Theodore Gissen, 18, of 35 Horseshoe Ridge Road, and Scott Regnery, 18, of 6 Willow Brook Lane, allegedly brought four live ducks to the high school concealed inside duffel bags.

The youths then released the ducks in a hallway at the school, creating a commotion, police said. There were no injuries in the incident, according to police.

Police said the cruelty to animals charge was lodged against the youths because the ducks were confined inside duffel bags while being transported.

The town animal control officer went to the high school to capture the ducks, which were then returned to their owner, who was Regnery, police said.

Each youth was released from police custody after signing a written promise to appear July 3 in Danbury Superior Court for arraignment on the charges.
