Latin Students Honored At Breakfast
Twenty-nine of 37 students who took the National Latin Exam this spring and two students who took the national Medusa Mythology Exam received awards of excellence at a special awards breakfast hosted by Latin instructor Peggy Boynton, Wednesday, June 6, at Newtown High School. The Medusa Mythology Exam is a national exam, while the National Latin Exam is actually taken by Latin students worldwide, Ms Boynton explained.
Receiving the Corona Oliva Award for the Medusa Mythology Exam Upper Level were Zachary Richter and Rebecca Reed. Daniel McSweeney, Evan Batzer, and Matthew Jones received the Gold Medal Summa Cum Laude for the National Latin Exam. Silver Medal Maxima Cum Laude awards went to Rockwell Anoyha, Samantha Kent, Tim Larsen, Katherine Kelleher, Harry Griffin, Christina Hartlett, Bonnie Lundblad, Benjamin Mahony, and Kelly Maher. Magna Cum Laude recipients were Amanda Sharpe, Adam Horvath, Caitlin DâEramo, Thomas Mortensen, Cristin Carlin, Andrew Mangold, and Kathryn Howell. Nathan Crevier, Samantha Cochrane, Abigail Peck, Margot Isaacs, Sam Norcross, Kaitlin Knox, Emily Grier, Erin Nemeth, Robert Brautigam, and Jason Smith received the Cum Laude National Latin Exam award.
All of the award winners scored above the national average score, said Ms Boynton.
