Well Attended Rockin' The 'Ville A Success
As the Rockin’ The ‘Ville event was underway at the Hawleyville Volunteer Fire & Rescue on Saturday, June 13, Jami Zapata, a firefighter engineer and Hawleyville’s organizer for the occasion, was busy making her way between setting up different areas of activity.
“People were extremely generous with their donations,” said Ms Zapata, who also said a large committee with the Stony Hill Four Corners Business Association (SH4C) worked tirelessly to make the event possible.
Presented by the business association, all proceeds from the event went to benefit Hawleyville Volunteer Fire Company.
Feedback, with lead singer Frank Zagottis, a founding member of the Stony Hill Four Corners Association, was set up and ready to play as event goers began arriving.
The gathering, which sold tickets in advance and at the door, offered $10 meals donated by Maplewood of Newtown and Maplewood of Stony Hill.
Live and silent auctions were also conducted, and a drawing for different prizes was held.
The Stony Hill Four Corners Association promotes businesses in the Route 6 corridor and hosts community events in the area between Newtown and eastern Bethel town lines.
Hawleyville Volunteer Fire & Rescue Chief John Basso said Rockin’ The ‘Ville was well attended and a success.
By Thursday, June 18, donations from the event were still being collected.
