Beautiful Baby Voting Open, Entries Still Welcome
Newtown's Beautiful Baby voting booth is on the move again.babycontest2010@gmail.com for more information.
After debuting at Sandy Hook LobsterFest July 10-11, and then spending a week Holy Cow Ice Cream Shop (the first time the Church Hill Road eatery has hosted the booth), the voting booth will move this week Stop & Shop Supermarket in Sand Hill Plaza, 228 South Main Street.
Contest Founder and Organizer Lois Barber says the voting booth is scheduled to remain at Stop & Stop for two weeks.
The friendly competition is a fundraiser for our nation's wounded veterans. All of the money raised therough entry fees and voting goes toward the non-profit organization Homes For Our Troops. This year's funds have been earmarked to go toward the construction of a handicapped accessible home for a West Haven Army Ranger.
Parents and guardians can still enter children for this year's contest. Children, up to 4 years of ages are eligible, and they do not need to live in Newtown in order to participate.
The entry fee is a $10 check donation made payable to Homes For Our Troops. Mail checks and a 4" x 4" (cut a 4 x 6) or wallet photo with child's name and contact email and phone number written clearly on the back to Baby Contest, c/o Lois Barber, 33 Zoar Road, Sandy Hook CT 06482.
All information on the back of the photo is blacked out with permanent marker before the voting booth goes on public display.
Votes are $1 each, and can be done any time the voting booth is on display.
The child whose photo receives the largest number of votes - and the public is welcome to vote as many times as they wish - will become the 2016 Beautiful Baby. The winner will ride in the Newtown Labor Day Parade in a convertible provided by Mercedes of Danbury.
