Flanders Offering All-Day Student Summer Program

WOODBURY — Flanders Nature Center and Land Trust’s Summer NETS Series, a week-long intensive summer camp for kids interested in becoming certified Flanders Teen Counselors, will be held July 25-29 and then again August 11-15. The all-day sessions will meet Monday through Friday from 9 am to 4 pm.

Geared toward kids entering grades 6-8, who are interested in gaining some valuable nature experience training, sessions will focus on the teaching of biology, environmental education, and earth sciences, as well as the practicing of public speaking, leadership skills, and first aid and wilderness safety techniques. Other activities include nature hikes and experiments.

Cost per session is $250 ($200 for Flanders members). Registration is required for those interested, and space is limited. Upon registration, participants must provide proof of a current (since August 2007) physical evaluation.

Call Flanders at 263-3711 extension 10 for more information. Flanders Welcome Center is located at the corner of Church Hill and Flanders Roads, three miles north of Route 6 in Woodbury.
