Exhibit Of Abstract Art At Library
Exhibit Of Abstract Art At Library
A special exhibition of abstract art will be displayed in the lower meeting room of the C.H. Booth Library June 17 to 28. The paintings are the work of the late Bahijeh Mehri, wife of Dr Parviz B. Mehri, and have been hung by the family to honor Mrs Mehri on the anniversary of her death.
It is the first time in the seven years that she has been curator of the shows at the library that Paula Stephan recalls a show being hung posthumously.
Fellow artist Virginia Zic met Mrs Mehri five years ago through membership in the Connecticut Chapter of the Womenâs Caucus for Art and the Society of Creative Arts in Newtown. She recalled Mrs Mehri paintings as being âvery much concerned with texture and color, and very pleasing to the eye. She used a transfer process of layering wax paper over paint to achieve a textured effect. It created a complex use of color.â
The public is invited to attend a reception in the meeting room, Saturday, June 21, from 2 to 4 pm.
