DUI Arrest
DUI Arrest
Police said that at about 1:34 am June 14, they stopped motorist Umar Iqbal, 24, of Danbury near 36 Main Street because he was not keeping to the right side of the road while driving.
After investigating, police charged Iqbal with driving under the influence and with failure to drive to the right.
Following arrest processing, police released Iqbal from custody on $100 bail for a July 1 court appearance.
DUI Incident
At about 4 pm June 13, police responded to private property at 56 Great Hill Road after receiving a report of a motor vehicle accident there.
Police said motorist Daniel Flanagan, 29, of Stratford had driven a 1999 Jeep Cherokee into a building on the property. Police said Flanagan failed field sobriety tests.
Also, Flanagan did not leave the property after the accident after having been asked to leave, police said.
Flanagan was then charged with driving under the influence, first-degree criminal trespassing, possession of narcotics, and failure to keep prescription medication in its original container, police report.
State law allows police to lodge charges of intoxicated driving while a person is on private property.
Police said they held Flanagan on $500 bail for a June 16 arraignment on the charges in Danbury Superior Court. Flanagan is scheduled to return to court on July 10.
Three Vehicles
Police report a three-vehicle accident at the intersection of Main Street, Glover Avenue, South Main Street, and Sugar Street at about 5:40 pm June 11.
Motorist Christine Dalessandro, 16, of 5 Pumpkin Lane was driving a 2004 Honda Accord sedan southward on Main Street, as motorist Kevin Kohn, 20, of 75 Taunton Lake Drive was driving a 1999 Pontiac Grand Prix sedan northward on South Main Street, police report.
At that time, motorist David Braga, 43, of 63 Currituck Road, who was driving a 2001 Toyota Tacoma pickup truck, came to a stop on westbound Glover Avenue, police said.
 The Honda then started to turn left toward Glover Avenue, but collided with the Pontiac, police said. Both the Honda and the Pontiac then traveled toward westbound Glover Avenue, where the Honda collided with the Toyota, police said. The Toyota carried two child passengers, according to police.
Ambulance volunteers transported Dalessandro to Danbury Hospital for treatment of injuries, police said. Newtown Hook & Ladder firefighters went to the accident.
Police issued Dalessandro an infraction for failure to grant the right of way.
Altercation
 State police report an altercation late on the night of June 9 at the commuter parking lot on Hawleyville Road, near Barnabas Road.
State police said they charged three people with second-degree breach of peace. Charged were Gina Molinaro, 19, of Southbury; Joshua Hoyt, 18, of Brookfield; and Mark Delancy, 25, of New Milford.
All three were scheduled to be arraigned on the charges in Danbury Superior Court, state police said.
I-84 Crash
State police report a one-car accident on Interstate 84 about 12:08 pm June 12.
State police said motorist Lena Sampaio, 37, of Botsford, who was driving a 2000 Mercedes-Benz E-Class auto on an unspecified highway ramp within a construction zone, lost control of the vehicle and struck a 45-foot-long section of steel guard cabling.
Newtown ambulance volunteers transported Sampaio to Danbury Hospital for medical evaluation, state police said. State police issued Sampaio an infraction for failure to drive in the established lane.

Hyundai Vs Deer
Motorist Christopher Body, 22, of 11 Sugar Street was driving a 2004 Hyundai Elantra sedan southward on South Main Street, near Borough Lane, about 6 am June 12, when a deer ran onto the road and collided with the auto, police said. Body was not injured. Police took no enforcement.
Motorcycle Crash
About 7 am June 6, Luis Berrios, 30, of Ansonia, who was driving a 2005 Harley-Davidson FLSTF Fat Boy motorcycle, was making a left turn from northbound Berkshire Road onto westbound Wasserman Way, when the motorcycle lost traction and slid down onto its left side, causing Berrios and the motorcycle to separate, police said.
Motorist Judith Massey, 64, of Stratford, who was driving a 2007 Honda Accord sedan behind the motorcycle, also was making that left turn, police said. While attempting to avoid colliding with Berrios, Massey struck the motorcycle, police said.
Ambulance volunteers transported Berrios to Danbury Hospital for treatment of a knee injury, police said.
Police issued Berrios an infraction for traveling unreasonably fast. Massey received a written warning for following too closely.
South Main Street
Motorist Manuel Morais, 55, of Shelton, who was driving a 2001 Toyota Sienna minivan northward near 5 South Main Street about 6 pm June 14, stopped for traffic conditions, after which the minivan was hit from behind by northbound motorist Nicole Rua, 19, of 66 Pine Tree Hill Road, who was driving a 1999 Pontiac Grand Am coupe, police report.
There were no injuries. Police issued Rua a written warning for following too closely.
Warrant
After learning that police held a warrant for his arrest, Stephen Sapienza, 18, of 6 Stone Gate Drive came to the police station on June 17 and was charged with second-degree harassment, police report.
Police allege that the charges stem from Sapienza posting certain comments on an Internet forum. The arrest stems from an April complaint to police.
After processing the case, police released Sapienza on a written promise to appear in court on July 1.
Country Squire Break
Sometime between June 10 and June 17, someone burglarized a Country Squire Road home and stole various items, including a laptop computer, a diamond ring, a collection of pens, and some loose change, police report. Country Squire Road is a dead-end street extending from Bradley Lane, near Route 34.
The value of the stolen items exceeds $2,500. Police ask anyone who saw unusual activity at Country Squire Road to contact them at 426-5841 or 270-8888.
Lightpost Crash
At 6:15 pm June 15, police investigated an accident in which an unknown southbound vehicle went off the road at 77 Main Street and smashed into a lightpost near the Newtown Volunteer Ambulance Corps garage. When police arrived, there was no vehicle at the scene.
Police collected physical evidence at the scene of the crash, which remains under investigation. Police ask anyone with knowledge of who struck the lightpost to contact Officer Steven Borges at the police station at 426-5841.
DUI Charge
Police said they received a report of an erratically driven vehicle about 8:15 pm June 17, after which they located motorist Jeffrey Wilson, 50, of Southbury at 301 South Main Street in Botsford.
Police said they charged Wilson with driving under the influence and with possession of narcotics. Police released Wilson on $30 bail for a July 1 appearance in Danbury Superior Court.
