Police said that at about 5 pm on June 17, Super Stop & Shop store security personnel spotted Michael Kalas, 17, of 6 Avalon Way allegedly place several packs of cigarettes in his pocket and then leave the supermarket at Sand Hill Plaza on South Main Street.
Security personnel called police to the store, after which police charged Kalas with sixth-degree larceny. Police released Kalas on a promise to appear July 3 in Danbury Superior Court to answer the charge.
Laptop Missing
At 9 am on June 5, a laptop computer was reported missing from a gymnasium office in the A-Wing at Newtown Middle School at 11 Queen Street, police said.
The computer is worth $1,200. Police are investigating.
