Salon Owner Repeats Win In

Tri-State Hairstyling Competition

MONROE –– For the second straight year, Shpendi “Frank” Ambari won a tri-state competition sponsored by the New Jersey Cosmetology Association at the Atlantic City Convention Center.

The Albanian-born owner of Frank’s Unisex Styling, 494 Main Street, beat out some 40 other hairstylists from New Jersey, New York, and Connecticut to take home more than $1,000 in prizes for his win in the unique male hairstyle category.

Entries were judged on balance, finesse, creativity, and finishing touches.

Soon after opening his salon in Monroe six years ago, Mr Ambari started entering hairstyling competitions. In 2000 he earned third place at the International Beauty Show, attended by hairstylists from around the world.

A hairstylist for more than 18 years, he came to the United States from Italy in 1991, where he had moved as a refugee from his communist homeland.
