Police Plan Sobriety Checkpoint

Police plan to conduct a motorist sobriety checkpoint on the night of Saturday, June 21, and early morning hours of Sunday, June 22. Police did not disclose where in town the checkpoint will be held. Nine police will participate.

At the checkpoint, each passing motorist will be stopped and briefly interviewed by police to determine whether they have been using alcohol or drugs.

Police plan to conduct similar checkpoints in July and August.

The summertime sobriety checkpoint program is budgeted at $15,700 in police overtime. Of that amount, $11,775 of is covered by a federal highway safety grant.
