Newtown Authors And Book Illustrators Day
A champagne reception will be held at C.H. Booth Library on Sunday, June 28, at 2 pm, to celebrate Newtown authors and book illustrators.
The event is free and open to adults in the community who sign up by June 26 at the libraryâs website (CHBoothLibrary.org) or by calling 426-4533.
A proclamation issued by First Selectman Joseph Borst acknowledges the townâs appreciation for its many authors and illustrators:
âWhereas, the talented authors and illustrators living in Newtown have created diverse works that promote literacy and enhance the cultural and artistic heritage of our community⦠I, Joseph Borst, First Selectman of the Town of Newtown, do hereby proclaim June 28, 2009, to be Newtown Authors and Book Illustrators Day in the Town of Newtown and urge all citizens to realize the valuable and unique contributions of this segment of our community and to learn more about them by enjoying their works at the Cyrenius H. Booth Library.â
More than 40 Newtown authors and book illustrators will be on hand for the public to meet and greet. Appetizers and desserts will be served.
Those planning to attend the reception will need to enter the building from the back or from the side handicapped entrance because the library will be closed that Sunday for any other activity.
