Program On Basic Drawing Techniques At C. H. Booth Library
Newtown artist Suzanne Lang returns to the C.H. Booth Library this summer to lead a workshop in Basic Drawing Techniques for rising grades 5 through 12, ages 10 and up. The program will be held Friday, July 10, from 12:30 to 2:30 pm, and is limited to 15 students who either live or attend school in Newtown. A $5 supply fee will be charged, payable at the program. Signups are required online at chboothlibrary.org.Â
The two-hour workshop will include exploration of line, shading techniques, and information about the tools being used. Students will learn different drawing techniques, how to use the tools properly, and how to really look at what they are drawing.
Pencils in a variety of weights, charcoal pencils and quality drawing paper will be provided. Young artists will use professional-grade materials in this workshop.
Suzanne Lang has previously led a Watercolor Techniques workshop at the library. She recently received her bachelorâs degree and certification in art education from Southern Connecticut State University. She also has an associateâs degree in advertising art and design.
Ms Lang has been teaching private and semiprivate art lessons from her home studio for the past four years to students ages 4 to adult. She teaches many mediums including drawing, painting, ceramics, collage, printmaking, and sculpture, and has won awards for her watercolor work from the Richter Art Association. She has lived in Newtown for 18 years with her husband and two children.
