Police Conduct Motorcycle Enforcement Project

In response to a complaint about motorcycles generating excessive noise while they travel on Glen Road in Sandy Hook, police staged a motorcycle enforcement project there on Saturday, June 13.

Police said they held the project from 10 to 11 am, and from noon to 1 pm that day.

During those periods, seven motorcyclists traveled through the area, police said. However, no noise violations due to modified motorcycle exhaust systems were found, according to police.

Police did, however, issue one motorcyclist a motor vehicle violation for traveling too fast.

Police explained that state law requires motor vehicles, including motorcycles, to be equipped with noise mufflers to prevent any unnecessary, unusual, or excessive exhaust noise.

Violators face a $225 fine and a state inspection of their vehicles to ensure compliance with applicable laws, police said.
