Newtown Rooster Celebrated In Grand Style
Newtown Rooster Celebrated
In Grand Style
To the Editor:
The Newtown Rooster was celebrated in grand style last Saturday at the Rooster Rally. A 30-foot sign on Edmond Town Hall welcomed everyone and even the sun managed to smile until after the end of the rally. Newtown residents and many other folks shared their rooster collections and antiques with visitors. Our famous artists, including David Merrill, Ruth Newquist, Alice Falkowitz, plus outstanding young artists from the middle school, captivated the attendees. There were rooster painting contests, tea bag contests and raffles, lots of souvenirs, and much fun for all. Even a few politicians enjoyed the pleasant day in the shadow of the rooster. Main Street was alive with rooster activity and small town neighborliness.
The Rooster Rally gratefully acknowledges the many supporters and some of the movers and shakers who made the exciting rally happen, including Michael Cech, Tom Catalina, George Miller, Anna Wiedemann, Dr John Reed, Ruth Newquist, Amy Mangold, Marie Smith, Jennifer Johnston, Gordon Williams, John Trentacosta, The Newtown Bee, Dr Bob Grossman, Joe Tani, AnneMarie DeWeese, David Merrill, and Beth Caldwell. Many, many thanks.
And now that the Newtown Rooster is back up on the Meeting House steeple observing the world go by, his friends and admirers, including Andrea Gaddis, are already looking forward to his next stroll down Main Street, creating a tradition.
Yours truly,
Mae S. Schmidle
