Minivan Accident

Motorist Stephen Forgione, 16, of 33 Orchard Hill Road was driving a 2004 Honda Odyssey minivan northward near 18 Pebble Road about 4 pm June 11, when a deer entered the road, so Forgione attempted to avoid colliding with the animal, police report.

But Forgione lost control of the minivan and it went off the right road shoulder where it struck a utility pole, police said. The vehicle then crossed back over the road and went off the left road shoulder where it struck a residential mailbox, police said.

Forgione was not injured. Police said they took no enforcement.

Guy Wire

About 5 am June 6, motorist Joshua Buccino, 23, of Southbury was driving a 2003 Mitsubishi Lancer sedan eastward near 11 Mt Pleasant Road, when while negotiating a curve in the road, he lost control of the Mitsubishi and went off the eastbound road shoulder, striking a guy wire that was stabilizing a utility pole, police report.

Buccino was not injured. Police said they verbally warned him for making a restricted turn.

Honda Vs Chevrolet

During wet conditions at about 6 pm June 5, motorist Eric Braun, 61, of 3 High Bridge Road, who was driving a 2007 Chevrolet Impala sedan southward near 138 South Main Street, stopped for traffic conditions, police said.

Southbound motorist Xiufeng Sun, 39, of Trumbull, who was driving a 2000 Honda Accord sedan southward behind the Chevrolet, then struck the rear end of the Chevrolet, police said.

There were no injuries. Police issued Sun an infraction for following too closely.

 

Warrant

Police report that at about 7 am on June 14, they stopped motorist Jacek T. Ramocki, 43, of Binghamton, N.Y., on Main Street because he was driving too fast.

After investigating, police issued Ramocki an infraction ticket on a charge of traveling too fast.

Additionally, town police learned that state police at Troop G in Bridgeport held a warrant for Ramocki’s arrest on a charge of second-degree failure to appear in court.

That appearance charge stems from an incident on August 12, 2008, in which Ramocki was arrested on charges of driving without a license, failure to display a front marker plate, and driving while under suspension, according to police.

After processing, police released Ramocki on $500 bail for a June 30 appearance in Bridgeport Superior Court.

Two MV Charges

While on patrol about 6 pm June 12, police stopped motorist Mark Fracker, 23, of 3 Maple Drive because the vehicle that he was driving near 11 Queen Street had no front marker plate on it.

After investigating, police charged Fracker with driving a vehicle without a front marker plate and with driving with a suspended license.

Following processing, Fracker was released from custody on $100 bail for a June 30 appearance in Danbury Superior Court.

Motorist Stopped

While on patrol about 9 am June 13, police stopped motorist Daniel Randi, 28, of Naugatuck on Hawleyville Road near Farrell Road because the vehicle that he was driving had an obscured marker plate.

After investigating, police arrested Randi on charges of driving with an obscured marker plate and with driving with a suspended license.

Following processing, police released Randi on $100 bail for a June 24 court appearance.

Missing Purse

Police received a report on the evening of June 12 that a large yellow leather purse, which had been left at the rear porch area of the Mocha Coffee House at 3 Glen Road in Sandy Hook Center, was missing. Police are investigating and ask anyone with knowledge of the whereabouts of the missing purse to contact them at 426-5841.

Wrecker Vs Coupe

Police said motorist Olivia Rodgers, 19, of Ridgefield, who was driving a 2005 Honda coupe southward on South Main Street, was attempting to make a left turn into the parking lot at Newtown Deli and Catering at 79 South Main Street at about 12:10 pm June 9, when the Honda was hit from behind by a southbound 2004 Freightliner wrecker, heavily damaging the Honda. Matthew Hoydilla, 28, of Newington was driving the wrecker, police said.

Newtown Volunteer Ambulance Corps members transported Rodgers to Danbury Hospital to be evaluated for soreness, police said.

Hoydilla received an infraction ticket for failure to drive a reasonable distance apart, according to police.

Rear-Ender

About 11:30 am June 9, motorist Stephen Miller, 46, of Watertown, who was driving a 2006 Ford Ranger pickup truck northward on South Main Street, near its intersection with Mile Hill Road, stopped for traffic conditions, after which the Ford was hit from behind by motorist Drew Parsons, 24, of 20 Bonnie Brae Drive, who was driving a 1997 Mitsubishi Mirage coupe, police report.

There were no injuries. Parsons received a written warning for failure to drive a reasonable distance apart.

Robin Hill Road

Police report that motorist Emily James Jones, 46, of Longview Heights Road was driving a 2007 Acura SUV westward on Robin Hill Road about 2:54 pm June 8. Motorist Donald Butler, 49, of Castle Meadow Road was driving a 2005 Ford pickup truck westward behind the Acura, police said.

The Acura then stopped and the Ford stopped behind it, police said. The Acura then backed up, inadvertently colliding with the Ford, police said.

There were no injuries. Police said they verbally warned Jones for unsafe backing.

Larceny Arrest

Police said that after learning that they held a warrant for her arrest, a girl under age 16 turned herself in on the morning of June 11 and was charged with fifth-degree larceny in connection with a May incident at Reed Intermediate School.

Police said the charge stems from the theft of a wallet, which was later recovered. Police released the girl on a written promise to appear June 22 at Danbury Juvenile Court. State law conceals the identities of people under age 18 who are charged with crimes.

I-84 Off-Ramp

Motorist Jake Condren, 18, of Southington was driving a 1997 Ford Explorer SUV on westbound Interstate 84’s Exit 9 off-ramp about 5:40 pm June 13, when he lost control of the vehicle and it spun around, traveling off the road’s right shoulder, state police said.

Condren was not injured. State police verbally warned him for traveling too fast for conditions.

Highway Crash

About 7:43 am June 12, motorist Gregory Noble, 50, of Unionville, who was driving a 2006 Dodge Charger westward on Interstate 84, east of Exit 9, slowed for traffic conditions and was struck from behind by westbound motorist Rahul Bhalla, 22, of Waterbury, who was driving a 2001 Toyota Camry, police report.

There were no injuries. Enforcement information was not stated.

Exit 11 Collision

State police report a two-vehicle collision on the dual-lane combined off-ramp at the Exit 11 interchange of Interstate 84 at about 10:35 am June 9.

Motorist Michael Bielawa, 48, of Woodbury was driving a 1992 Ford Taurus sedan in the right lane, as motorist Michael Fichera, 51, of Cornwall, N.Y., was driving a 2005 Cadillac Escalade SUV carrying four adult passengers in the left lane, state police said.

The Cadillac attempted to change lanes and collided with the Ford, state police said. There were no injuries. State police verbally warned Fichera for making an unsafe lane change.

Larceny

About 10 am on June 12 at Danbury Superior Court, police arrested Robert Robson, 42, of 6 High Bridge Road on a warrant on charge of third-degree larceny. The arrest stems from an investigation into the theft of a log-splitting machine, police said. Police received a complaint on the matter on January 1.

Third-degree larceny is a felony involving the theft of items valued at between $1,000 and $5,000.

After his arraignment, Robson was released on $20,000 bail for another court appearance on June 17.

Automotive Vandalism

Sometime between 8 pm on June 12 and 7:30 am on June 13, someone intentionally punctured the tires on a vehicle parked on private property near a Rockywood Drive residence. Rockywood Drive is a dead-end street off Russett Road in Sandy Hook.

The incident constitutes second-degree criminal trespassing and second-degree criminal mischief, police said. Officer Richard Monckton is investigating and asks anyone with information on the incident to contact him at the police station at 426-5841.

Acura Vs Jeep

A two-vehicle collision occurred at the end of Exit 10 off-ramp for westbound Interstate 84 at about 9:45 am June 15, police said.

In that accident, motorist Tracy Ullacco, 49, of Southbury, who was driving a 2001 Acura 3.2-CL coupe, drove into the rear end of a 2000 Jeep Grand Cherokee SUV driven by Darienne Struna, 37, of Southbury, police said.

There were no injuries. Police issued Ullacco a written warning for failure to drive a reasonable distance apart.

SUV Impact

Police learned early on the morning of June 12 that Kevin O’Mahoney, 53, of 52 Huntingtown Road had been driving a 2006 Mercedes-Benz ML-350 SUV northward on Orchard Hill Road, when a deer jumped out onto the road in front of the vehicle.

O’Mahoney swerved to avoid the animal but he traveled off the right road shoulder and went onto a rock wall before colliding with a tree, police said.

Police said O’Mahoney was not injured. They took no enforcement.

Flagpole Crash

Two vehicles collided at the hazardous Main Street flagpole intersection about noon on June 14.

Motorist Susan Vaill, 49, of Woodbury, who was driving a 2003 Ford SUV westward on Church Hill Road, attempted to make a left turn onto southbound Main Street, as motorist Blanche Labarbera, 59, of Milford was driving a 2003 Ford coupe southward on Main Street, police said.

The two vehicles collided. Police said Vaill told them that she thought that the intersection had four-way stop signs.

There were no injuries. Vaill received a written warning for failure to grant the right of way at a stop sign.

awleyville Accident

Police report a two-vehicle collision that occurred in the rain during heavy traffic conditions about 4:42 pm on June 13 on Hawleyville Road at its intersection with the westbound ramps for Interstate 84.

Motorist Aimee Moore, 31, of Danbury, who was driving a 1998 Subaru Legacy sedan southward on Hawleyville Road, mistakenly attempted to make a left turn onto westbound I-84’s off-ramp, so she then attempted to reenter southbound Hawleyville Road, police said.

At that time, motorist Michelle Angelovich, 19, of New Milford, who was driving a 2005 Saturn Ion sedan, was traveling northward on Hawleyville Road, police said.

Angelovich applied her brakes, but went into a skid on the wet road and the two vehicles collided, police said.

Ambulance volunteers transported Moore to Danbury Hospital for treatment of injuries, police said. Hawleyville firefighters went to the accident. Police said they issued Moore an infraction for making a restricted turn.

GMC Vs Ford

Motorist Christopher Teri, 17, of 3 Adams Hill Road, who was driving a 2001 GMC Denali SUV northward on Hawleyville Road, near its intersection with Barnabas Road, about 9:46 pm June 14, swerved in order to avoid an animal that had run onto the road, resulting in the SUV crossing the road’s center line, police report.

At that time, motorist Daniel Goncalves, 30, of Danbury was driving a 2005 Ford Focus coupe southward, police said.

The Ford attempted to avoid the GMC, but the two vehicles collided, police said. There were no injuries. Teri received an infraction for failure to drive to the right, police said.

Digital Player

After investigating the theft of an iPod digital player at Newtown High School that occurred on June 10, police arrested a 15-year-old boy there on June 16, charging him with sixth-degree larceny.

The accused boy had attempted to sell the device to another student who was a friend of the victim, resulting in the recovery of the stolen item and the investigation, police said.

Police released the arrested boy for a June 29 appearance at Danbury Juvenile Court. State law conceals the identities of people under age 18 who are charged with crimes.

Dodge Vs Deer

Motorist Nicole Stampp, 30, of Southbury was driving a 2009 Dodge Journey station wagon northward on Toddy Hill Road about 3:52 am June 17, when a deer ran onto the roadway at Toddy Hill Road’s intersection with Still Hill Road, resulting in a collision, police said.

Stampp was not injured. Police took no enforcement.

Intersection

Motorist Kathleen Nitz, 49, of Southbury, who was driving a 2004 Volvo XC-70 station wagon eastward on Church Hill Road, stopped for a traffic signal at that street’s intersection with Commerce Road at about 2:21 pm June 17, police said.

Eastbound motorist Erica Woloszynski, 17, of 16 Winton Farm Road, who was driving a 2000 Mercury Sable sedan, stopped behind the Volvo, police said.

The traffic signal then changed to a flashing yellow light. The Volvo then moved forward but was struck from behind by the Mercury, police said.

There were no injuries. Police said they verbally warned Woloszynski for following too closely.
