COPD & Depression Talk At St Vincent’s

BRIDGEPORT — A talk on “Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease & Depression” will be hosted by St Vincent’s Better Breathers Club on Thursday, June 25, from 1 to 2 pm, in the ETC Room on Level 3 of the medical center.

Featured speaker will be St Vincent’s social worker Kara Justo, MSW, who will discuss how people with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease can cope with limitations, change of lifestyle, and the depression that may occur as a result.

The Better Breathing Club provides information, resources, and support to help individuals and their families better manage their breathing problems including chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), emphysema, pulmonary fibrosis, chronic bronchitis, and asthma.

The club gives people in the community an opportunity to share experiences and coping tips with others similarly challenged by respiratory issues. A professional from a related medical specialty will discuss a different topic of interest each month, making patient recommendations and covering the latest clinical findings on the entire spectrum of lung diseases.

The meetings are free and open to the general public. Free parking (with validated ticket) and light refreshments will also be provided. For more information, call St Vincent’s Pulmonary Lab at 203-576-5096.
