Aimee Clavette of Sandy Hook was named to the Dean’s List at Providence College, in Providence, R.I., for the spring 2009 semester. To qualify for Dean’s List, students must achieve at least a 3.55 grade point average with a minimum of 12 credits.

Local residents were among the 1,298 students who received degrees from Fairfield University on Sunday, May 17. Alyssa Evelyn Ballard received a Bachelor of Arts degree in English/professional writing, Jennifer Lynn Kelley received a Master of Business Administration in MBA-Finance, John Anton Polchowski received a Bachelor of Science degree in marketing, Megan Leigh Tredennick received a Master of Arts in community counseling and Kerilyn Peck received a Bachelor of Science degree in mathematics.

Jessica Gaddis was named to the Dean’s List at the State University of New York in New Paltz for the spring 2009 semester. Dean’s List designation at the university is reserved for students who excel academically and earn at least a 3.3 grade point average in a semester with a full-time course load.

Local students were among the 2,240 students who graduated from the University of Vermont in Burlington during a ceremony on May 17. Matthew Ronan received a Bachelor of Arts in psychology, David Haladjian of Sandy Hook received a Bachelor of Arts in film and television, Kristen Rocca of Sandy Hook received a Bachelor of Arts in sociology, and Amy Robinson of Sandy Hook received a Bachelor of Science in nutrition and food sciences.

Jeffrey L. Davis was named to the spring 2009 Dean’s List with honors at McDaniel College in Westminster, Md. To be named to the Dean’s List with honors at the school a student must earn a grade point average between 3.5 and 3.69 for the semester.

Jessica Ashley Halloran, Jennifer Patricia O’Connell, and Heather Brianna Tracey were named to the Dean’s List at Savannah College in Georgia for the winter quarter of 2008. To be named on the dean’s list at the college students must earn a grade point average of 3.5 or more for the quarter.

Scott Shpunt, Amanda Laporta, Anna K. Janisch, Michael Cash, Liza Mulfeld, Corey Regensburger and Peteris G Griffiths received Dean’s List distinction from Northeastern University in Boston for the spring semester 2009. To earn distinction, students at Northeastern must carry a full program of at least four courses and have a quality point average of 3.25 or greater out of a possible 4.0. Sandy Hook resident John Rigby received academic honors from Northeastern University on its spring semester 2009 Dean’s List. John is an honors student at the university.

 Kristen M. DeCesare, Lauren N. Pade, and Ashleigh E. Pasko were among students who received their bachelor’s degrees from Quinnipiac University in Hamden on May 17.

William Culligan, son of Neil and Sheila Culligan, was named to the Dean’s List in the University of Notre Dame’s, in Notre Dame, Ind., College of Science for outstanding scholarship during the spring 2009 semester.

Caitlin O’Connell was named to the Dean’s List of Towson University, in Towson, Md., for the spring 2009 semester. Students must earn a minimum grade point average of 3.5 to attain Dean’s List status at the university. Caitlin will be a senior at Towson in the fall.

Brittany Boyle, daughter of Lee and Paul Boyle of Sandy Hook, graduated May 1 from Northeastern University’s Graduate School of Bouve College of Health Sciences, in Boston. Brittany graduated Summa Cum Laude with a Master’s of Science in speech language pathology-audiology.

Patrick Miles Coakley, son of Dan P. Coakley and Shirley A. Coakley, graduated from Ohio Wesleyan University, in Delaware, Ohio, during a ceremony on May 10. Patrick is also a high school graduate of Bridgton Academy.

Daniel Bunger, son of Gregory and Katherine Bunger, has been named to the Dean’s List at Hamilton College in Clinton, N.Y., for the 2009 spring semester. At the university students must achieve a grade point average of 90 or more during the term to be placed on the Dean’s List.

Shelby Q. Sisco, Ian Engleberger, and Jared C. Kloth graduated from The Gunnery, in Washington, during commencement exercises held on May 29. Shelby was awarded Excellence in Photography, Ian was awarded the school Poetry Prize and Jared was awarded the Malcolm Willis Award for Music, the Dean’s Prize, and graduated Cum Laude.

The University of Connecticut in Storrs recently announced students who attained the Dean’s List for the spring 2009 semester. To make the Dean’s List, students must take at least 12 credits, finish the semester with a grade point average that is among the top 25 percent of students enrolled in their school or college, and have no grade below C. Newtown residents who made the Dean’s List at the university were Christie Lea Attanasio, Mercedes O. Ball, Joseph Thomas Bowen, Lindsay Lauren Chimileski, Kelly Juliane Corrigan, Anthony James Craparo, Christina Marie Ercole, Jacqueline Colette Ercole, Christopher Claude Gindraux, Neil Frank Goyal, Ashely Lynn Hart, Leah Brooks Herity, Christie Helen Iwanicki, Shayna Marliss Moliver, Jennifer Ann Nelson, Krishna Jaydev Patel, Michael Robert Rambone, Andrea Raynor, Jordan Scheurer Reed, Blayne Alan Sapelli, Najam Roshan Syed, Collen Elizabeth Thornberg, Jennifer Nicole Truchsess, and Kristie Elizabeth Uniacke. Sandy Hook residents on the Dean’s List at the university were Gregory Neil Aiello, Liam Patrick Cawley, Jessica Rose DiVanno, Alyssa Marie Krueger, Benjamin Kevin March, Christine Concetta Mason, Elaine DuRoss McCafferty, Shayna Lee Mesko, Melissa Mary Shepard and Corey Susan Stokes. 

Newtown students who were named to the spring 2009 Dean’s List at Western Connecticut State University were Richard W. Andrews, Nancy M. Belanger, Jesse S. Birden, Braeden Wade Conlan, Rebecca L.
