Regional YMCA Honors Volunteers

BROOKFIELD – The Regional YMCA of Western Connecticut honored six individuals on Thursday, June 13, at a People of Distinction ceremony attended by more than 200 people at the Candlewood Inn.

The master of ceremonies was actor Jay Thomas, best known for his roles on Cheers and Murphy Brown.

The honorees included Charles Frosch, president of Union Savings Bank, for his volunteerism and work on many community and nonprofit boards; Philip and Christine Lodewick for their many volunteer and philanthropic activities, especially with A Better Chance in Ridgefield; Annie Orr for giving much of her time and energy to helping others; Gerri Worthington for her work with the Community Action Committee of Danbury and with the New Hope Baptist Church; and a posthumous award for Shelly Rosenbaum, past chairman of the board of directors of the Regional YMCA.

Proceeds from the event assist the Regional Y in its newest endeavor, the Arts and Humanities Center, which will open this fall on Main Street in Danbury.
