Letters Of Endorsement
To the Editor:
I am writing today as a friend of Chris LaRocque, the Republican candidate for state representative. I have read with much interest the recent articles in the paper about Chris Lyddy, our current state representative. I am concerned about key issues that need to be considered in conjunction with Chris Lyddyâs efforts as Newtown decides who will represent them in Hartford.
Chris Lyddyâs accomplishments in the field of social work are undeniable, and deserve the utmost gratitude. However, none of the articles or letters to the paper discuss Chrisâ voting record, particularly on the economy and our massive state budget. He has consistently voted to spend more money at a time when people are out of work and struggling to get by. If the spending continues at this pace, tax increases will be inevitable.
In light of the most recent budget obstacles endured by Newtownâs residents, the need for a long-term perspective coupled with a realistic evaluation of the current economic situation is undeniable.
Chris LaRocque has the business and economics background to understand the complex issues that Connecticut faces. He consistently supported a conservative budget here in Newtown and it was his amendment at the end of the budget process that helped get the budget passed. In this instance he proved that he is working with both sides of the aisle, not just saying it. We have the opportunity to get back to smart spending with a candidate like Chris LaRocque. I urge you to learn more about Chris in the coming months. I guarantee you wonât be disappointed.
