Cherished Husband

And Father

Jan Smolen, 57, of the Sandy Hook section of Newtown, died June 15, at St Vincent’s Medical Center. Mr Smolen was born in Middletown, a son of Dina (Stoller) and Samuel Smolen, and was a resident of Sandy Hook for the past 15 years.

Mr Smolen was a rural carrier for the US Postal Service in Monroe for 25 years, and was a lifelong baseball card collector and an avid Yankee fan.

His beloved wife, Laura Lenhard Smolen; devoted son, Jonathan Smolen of Sandy Hook; and his cherished brother, Paul Smolen and his wife, Kathy, of Glen Rock, N.J., survive Mr Smolen.

Services will take place Friday, June 18, at 1 pm, in the Abraham L. Green and Son Funeral Home, 88 Beach Road, Fairfield, with interment following at Loyalty Cemetery on Burroughs Road in Fairfield. Friends may call at 12:30 pm, Friday, June 18, at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made to a charity of one’s choice.
