Critique Of Members’ Work At Next SCAN Meeting

Award-winning watercolor painter and teacher John Massimino will conduct a critique of members’ work at the next meeting of The Society of Creative Arts of Newtown (SCAN), which will take place on Wednesday, June 23, at Newtown Meeting House, 31 Main Street. The program will begin at 1:30 and nonmembers are welcome free of charge.

Mr Massimino’s critiques are fun, instructive and eye opening. Members of SCAN will be bringing one or two paintings to be critiqued.

Artists will benefit from Mr Massimino’s remarks regarding their own work but also from comments given to other members of the group. Attendees will also benefit by witnessing what one artist has to say about the work of others.

John Massimino received his bachelor of fine arts degree from Hartford Art School. His work has been featured in numerous one-man shows as well as group exhibitions in the United States and Italy, including events at New Britain Museum of American Art, AHDA Art Gallery in NYC, Bechtel International Center, Stamford University, and Galleria D’Arte Personale in Italy.

Among the artist’s 40-plus painting awards are those from Watercolor USA, American Watercolor Society (AWS), Connecticut Watercolor Society, Connecticut Academy of Fine Arts, New Haven Paint and Clay and Audubon Show in NYC. Mr Massimino taught at Paier College of Art in Hamden for 20 years and is currently a visiting professor.

Reservations are not needed for this event, although additional information is available from Roberta Shea at 203-426-6812.
