Computer Society Slates Talk On Hacking, Malware, Botnets, Cyber Spies
DANBURY â Who and what are the threats to computer and Internet security today? Hacking has become big business.
The Danbury Area Computer Societyâs past president will address this issue and more, from local to global perspectives, in a free and open meeting July 6 at 6:30 pm.
Registration and casual networking precede a brief society meeting at 7 pm followed by an informative âAsk DACS,â open Q&A session.
Then at 8 pm, the main presentation commences with Jim Scheef, a DACS past president and principal of Telemark Systems, LLC, a New Milford-based computer networking company serving small businesses.
According to Mr Scheef, television ads warn about identity theft and computer break-ins where hackers steal many thousands of credit cards are in the news along with stories about security breaches that have political implications with spies breaking into government email accounts here and abroad.
Hacking has even become a weapon of war. But what is the danger of cyber war? Is the United States vulnerable to cyber attack?
What might be the effects of a cyber war and how long might be required to recover? Mr Scheef hopes to address and cover the implications of all these concerns.
This and all DACS activities are free and open to the public. Meetings are held at the Danbury Hospital auditorium.
