Two School Buses Collide

On Toddy Hill Road

An accident involving 54 people, who were on two school buses traveling on Toddy Hill Road, occurred about 7:25 am on June 15, police report.

There were no injuries in the mishap, which occurred in the vicinity of Newtown High School,  police said.

Police said that School Bus #1, which was driven by Phyllis Page, 46, of 1 Surrey Trail and also owned by Page, was traveling northward on Toddy Hill Road about 2,000 feet north of its intersection with Quarry Ridge Road, when the bus came to a stop. The 1996 GMC CV-200-G bus was carrying 26 student passengers, police said.

Police said that northbound School Bus #57, which was driven by Ricardo Jarrin, 51, of Danbury and owned by MLM Transportation of Pebble Road, then struck the rear end of the stopped school bus driven by Page. The 1994 International 3000 school bus driven by Jarrin carried 26 student passengers, police said.

Police said they issued Jarrin a written warning for following too closely.
