The Litter Problem
The Litter Problem
To the Editor:
We have a problem of littering. It is a problem because it creates pollution and kills animals. Pollution is created if someone throws something out of their car that is toxic or a hazard to your health. It gets into our water, and then we drink it, which can make us very sick or even cause us to die. It kills animals if they eat the item that you throw out the window, they can choke on it or it can be toxic to them.
A cigarette butt takes five years to decompose and everyone is putting their butts all over the place. This is a lot of buts that are gong to be around for the next five years. Five years is a long time so one cigarette butt can do a lot to the environment and the animals in that period of time.
How would you like it if someone just decided to dump garbage on your front yard? Well thatâs what it is like for the animals. How would you like driving through your town and it looks like a dump? All of that garbage on the side of the road may have been put there by people littering.
These are a few of my reasons why littering is not a good idea.
