Sandy Hook Collision
Police report a two-vehicle accident in Sandy Hook Center about 7:30 pm June 4.
Motorist Sara Daniels, 20, of 45 Bennetts Bridge Road, who was driving a 1994 Honda Civic sedan, was backing out of a parking space at 102 Church Hill Road when she collided with a 2002 Saab 93-SE convertible, which was being driven eastward on Church Hill Road by Anthony Corleto, 45, of 6 Whitewood Road, police said. There were no injuries, according to police.
DUI Warrant
On June 13, police charged James J. Johann, 41, of Danbury on a rearrest warrant, which included charges of second degree failure to appear in court, driving under the influence, and driving a motor vehicle while under suspension in connection with an incident last November.
After processing Johannâs arrest, police released him on a $10,000 surety bond for a June 29 appearance in Danbury Superior Court.
On March 20, police had charged Johann on a rearrest warrant, which included counts of failure to appear in court, driving under the influence, and driving while under suspension in connection with that November incident.
Last November 21, Johann had passed an unmarked police car at the intersection of Routes 25 and 302 and then drove at high speed northward on Route 25, police have said. Police then stopped Johann to investigate and smelled alcohol, after which they gave him field sobriety tests and lodged the original charges.
Main Street Accident
An accident involving a sport-utility vehicle and a sports car occurred at 25 Main Street, in front of the Booth Library at about 3:38 pm June 5.
As motorist Shane Silverman, 30, of 85 Riverside Road, who was driving a 1998 Toyota Sienna, was exiting the libraryâs driveway, motorist Norman Seferi, 52, of 20 Meadow Brook Road was driving a 1982 Chevrolet Corvette southward on Main Street, police said. The vehicles then collided.
There were no injuries. Police issued Silverman a written warning for failure to grant the right of way from a driveway.
Larceny Charge
Police report they charged Susan Mazzarella, 51, of Southbury with sixth degree larceny on the morning of June 12 at the Big Y supermarket at 6 Queen Street.
Police report that Big Y employees told them that they allegedly saw Mazzarella altering the prices of store items to make those prices lower. Police said that Mazzarella allegedly was seen using store items and then discarding them.
After processing the case, police released Mazzarella on $100 bail for a June 29 appearance in Danbury Superior Court.
Glen Road DUI
Police report that after seeing motorist Jeffrey Pattison, 42, of 90 Glen Road crossing over the roadwayâs centerlines, they stopped him on Glen Road on the night of June 11 to investigate.
Police said they gave Pattison field sobriety tests, after which they charged him with driving under the influence and failure to drive to the right.
After processing the arrest, police released Pattison on $100 bail for a June 29 court appearance.
Box Truck DUI
Police said that on the night of June 10 they received a telephone call from a citizen who was driving behind a box truck traveling southward on South Main Street.
The citizen reported that the right front tire of the truck had blown out and had fallen off the rim, but the truck continued traveling, police said. The citizen followed the truck for three miles, police said.
A police detective pulled behind the truck, but it would not stop, police said, adding that the vehicle was eventually stopped by other police. Also, the truckâs lights were not illuminated although it was dark, police said.
The truckâs driver, Patrick McLaughlin, 43, of Wolcott failed sobriety testing, police said. Police charged McLaughlin with driving under the influence, reckless driving, disobeying an officerâs signal, and driving an unregistered vehicle. After posting $100 bail, police released McLaughlin for a June 24 court appearance.
Purse Purloined
At 12:01 am on June 13 police received a report concerning a purse, which was reportedly stolen in the parking lot of the Blue Colony Diner on Church Hill Road.
Police said a woman reported to them that she exited the diner and put her purse on the ground in the parking lot and then became inattentive for a time, after which she discovered that her purse had been stolen. Police said they are investigating.

Mt Pleasant Extrication
Police report that motorist Barbara Phillips, 63, of 53 Mt Pleasant Road was driving a 1997 Jeep LRT station wagon westward on Mt Pleasant Road about 7 am June 13, when while negotiating a curve in the road, the Jeep went off the roadâs westbound shoulder.
The Jeep then re-entered the roadway, crossed the road, and went off the eastbound road shoulder, struck a utility pole, hit a rock wall, and then struck a tree head-on at 33 Mt Pleasant Road, police said.
Phillips, who was trapped in the damaged Jeep, was extricated by Newtown Hook and Ladder firefighters. The Newtown Volunteer Ambulance Corps transported Phillips to Danbury Hospital to be treated for injuries, police said. Police said the accident is under investigation.

Toyota Into Cabling
State police report that motorist Thomas Cole, 50, of New Fairfield, who was driving a 1994 Toyota Supra at about 11:18 pm June 11, was traveling on the Exit 10 on-ramp of westbound Interstate 84, when he lost control of the vehicle and struck the steel guard cabling positioned along the right road shoulder, damaging a 70-foot section of the cabling.
The Newtown Volunteer Ambulance Corps transported Cole to Danbury Hospital for treatment of injuries, state police said. State police said charges are pending in the case.
Truck Rollover
State police said that tractor-trailer truck driver Charles Bohannon, 49, of Ivoryton was driving a vehicle hauling concrete slabs at about 8 am June 10, when he turned left from westbound Wasserman Way and onto the Exit 11 on-ramp of Interstate 84.
The vehicle was traveling too fast and the truck rolled over onto its right side, police said. Bohannon received head scrapes, but refused medical attention, state police said.
Heavy wreckers were brought in to clear the accident. Travel in the area was delayed. State police issued Bohannon an infraction ticket for traveling too fast for conditions.
Car Vs Truck
State police report a two-vehicle accident on westbound Interstate 84, near Exit 9, on June 10.
Motorist Francis Jourdain, 25, of Danbury, who was driving a 1991 Ford Escort, apparently fell asleep while driving and collided with a 1999 Isuzu box truck driven by John Willis, 33, of Danbury, state police said. State police said they issued Jourdain an infraction for failure to drive in the established lane.
Butterfield Road
A two-vehicle accident occurred on Butterfield Road about 12:30 pm June 7. Butterfield Road links Currituck Road to Hanover Road.
Police said motorist Orlando Souza, 47, of Danbury was driving a 1986 GMC 3500 pickup truck westward, as motorist Joan Yarrow, 64, of 211 Hanover Road was driving a 2001 Saab 93 sedan eastward.
Both vehicles were negotiating a narrow, winding section of the street when they collided on a curve, police said. There were no injuries. Police said they verbally warned Yarrow for failure to grant one-half of the roadway.
Honda Vs BMW
Police said motorist Robert M. Williston, III, 33, of Brookfield, who was driving a 2001 BMW 740-I sedan northward on Queen Street at about 4 pm June 11, was stopping for a traffic signal at the entrance to Newtown Shopping Village at 6 Queen Street, when the BMW was struck from behind by a northbound 2001 Honda Accord sedan driven by Kristen Snopkowski, 27, of Southbury.
There were no injuries. Police verbally warned Snopkowski for following too closely.
Multiple MV Charges
Police report they were dispatched to the area of 55 Sugar Street on the evening of June 16 to check out a report of a possibly intoxicated woman in the road. Police said that in the course of their investigation, they learned that the woman had entered a white Jeep as a passenger.
Police said they then located that vehicle parked in a driveway on Head Oâ Meadow Road and investigated.
Police said they charged the driver of the Jeep, James Ceperley, 40, of 55 Sugar Street, Unit 27, with driving an unregistered motor vehicle, misuse of marker plates, driving while under suspension, and failure to maintain minimum automotive insurance.
Police said they held Ceperley on $2,500 bail for a June 17 appearance in Danbury Superior Court.
