Ice Cream Social Will Create Sundaes With Benefits
WOODBURY â New Morning Store will host its Fifth Annual Ice Cream Social on Friday, June 25, from 5 to 8 pm.
Visitors to the store will be invited to make their own sundaes with all organic ingredients: Frozen mint chocolate chip yogurt and ice cream; non-dairy and vegan frozen deserts; sweet and chocolate sprinkles, topped off with fudge sauce and thick, store-whipped, fresh cream.
Sundaes will be available for a $5 donation, with 100 percent of the proceeds going directly to Safe Haven. Additionally, New Morning is matching all contributions.
Safe Haven provides emergency shelter and free supportive services to victims and survivors of domestic violence and sexual assault. Safe Haven serves Southbury, Woodbury, Bethlehem, Middlebury, Waterbury and surrounding towns.
In addition to monetary donations during the ice cream social New Morning will be accepting donations of household supplies like diapers, laundry detergent, and personal care and paper products. Many New Morning vendors will donate food, health and body care products for the event.
This yearâs proceeds will directly benefit the art therapy program at Safe Haven, a program that was grant-funded two years ago but has now lost its funding. This program is open to all clientsâ children between ages 5 and 10 and provides group and individual art therapy.
Safe Haven, at 88 Main Street South Suite 203B in Southbury, can reached at womens@mindspring.com, or 262-8700 Monday through Friday between 9 am and 4 pm.
