Free Nâ Easy Summer Concerts & Dances At The Homesteads Â
The Homesteads at Newtown is presenting its 3rd Annual Summer Concert Series this summer, with music for every taste. At most of these concerts, patrons will have the opportunity to dance to the beautiful music under the stars in The Homesteadsâ lovely main courtyard (or in the dramatic Panoramic Dining Room in the event of rain).
Scrumptious refreshments and seating will be provided.Â
All performances are free and are on Tuesday evenings at 7 pm, rain or shine. The Homesteadsâ summer lineup also includes dancing on June 22, July 20, August 3 and August 31.
The 2004 series will open on June 22 with The Frank Porto Band. The seven-member band offers a vocalist, pianist, bassist, drummer, trumpet player, saxophonist and clarinet performer. Its repertoire covers the best of the Big Band era to contemporary favorites.
On July 6 enjoy a performance by The Jim Scianna Trio, featuring tenor saxophonist Carmen Leggio and pianist Chris Casey.
On July 20 The Kenny Lee Orchestra will perform its swinging Big Band tunes, 50âs rock, and all-time favorites.
The series will continue on August 3 with Clam Diggers Dixieland Band, followed on August 17 by the captivating, imaginative and unforgettable tuba-flute duo Double Play. These musicians offer âclassical yet innovative music with an unexpected twist.â
The final concert will be by The Jeff McGill Quartet on August 31. This group offers the velvet virtuosity of pianist Jeff McGill with his incomparable ensemble.
