FCC Annual Meeting To Recognize Key Volunteers

The Family Counseling Center, Inc will hold its annual meeting on Monday, June 28, at 7:30 pm, in the Community Room at the C.H. Booth Library in Newtown.

The following volunteers will be recognized for their contributions over the past year:

Holiday Festival Chairman Nancy Obremski and Barbara Pisacreta and Claudia Coopersmith, co-chairs of the “Friends of the Family Dinner.” Outgoing board members Rory Chapdelaine, Kim Connolly, Nancy Obremki, Connie Huntington, and Debora Accomando also will be honored for their contributions.

The “HD” Award was established in 1990 by former chairperson, Gary Fetzer to recognize outstanding volunteer contributions to the organization. The award was named after H.D. Bassett, treasurer and board member as well as first recipient. The board supported the establishment of this annual award because it wanted to emphasize the importance of volunteers and the very critical role that volunteer contributions can make to the success of the Center. It will be presented to a volunteer who has played a significant role over the past few years in assuring the success of the center and its fund-raising activities.

The annual meeting will also include the election of officer’s directors and an employee appreciation award. The public is invited.

The center is a state licensed, nationally accredited outpatient mental health psychiatric clinic for adults and children, providing substance abuse, counseling, psychiatric assessments and follow-up, play-therapy, support groups, and parent education courses for parents who going through divorce and separation. In addition, to the IICAPS/Intensive Home Based Therapy Program and other subcontracted services. The center serves people who live and work in the greater Danbury and Southbury area. Its mission is to serve people regardless of their ability to pay.
