Host Families Needed For Student Exchange
Pacific Intercultural Exchange is looking for families interested in hosting a special young ambassador from the former Soviet Union for the upcoming academic year. These students are involved in the Future Leaders Exchange (FLEX) program, which is sponsored by the United States State Department and are screened and selected from over 50,000 applications that are submitted annually.
The goal of the FLEX program is to remove misconceptions that Americans have about Russian people and misconceptions Russians have about Americans. The organization is hoping to build a future between the two countries of trust and understanding.
FLEX students are high achievers and have excellent English skills. All students are between age 15 and 17, come from one of the 12 independent countries that were established after the breakup of the former Soviet Union, and must complete community service while in America.
Anyone interested in additional information or hosting a FLEX scholar, please contact Donna Bailey at 800-637-0217 or email dawna@azmail.net. Students are also available from Germany, Brazil, Thailand, Argentina, Mexico, Switzerland and many other countries.
