Dive Into Fun As Eichler’s Cove Beach, Treadwell Pool Open For The Season
Newtown Parks and Recreation has announced the reopening of Eichler’s Cove beach and Treadwell pool, following CDC guidance to protect swimmers, staff, and the community.
Eichler’s Cove beach is scheduled to reopen on Thursday, June 18, and Treadwell pool is scheduled to reopen on Monday, June 22.
Beach hours are 9 am to 7 pm, with 9 to 11 am for lap swim only.
Pool hours are 11 am to 6 pm, Monday through Friday and 10 am to 7 pm Saturday and Sunday.
The health and safety of swimmers, staff, and other patrons remains the highest priority. Below is a summary of actions being taken to help ensure the lowering of COVID-19 risks as much as possible, while also allowing swimmers and patrons to enjoy the water.
*Promoting healthy hygiene practices, such as encouraging all staff patrons and swimmers to stay home if they are unwell, wash their hands frequently, cover coughs and sneezes, wearing cloth face coverings when not in the water.
*Increasing cleaning and disinfection within the facilities by cleaning and disinfecting frequently touched surfaces such as handrails, door handles, no-touch shower, and life vests. Patrons must arrive in swim suits and shower prior to entering the pool. More details will be available for Treadwell pool opening.
*Encouraging social distancing when possible by changing deck layouts and beach spaces to ensure patrons can remain six feet apart in standing and seating areas, providing lane lines and visual clues, staggering use of communal spaces, implementing a reservation system for patrons to accommodate the reduction in pool and beach capacity. (Reservation information will be sent to members soon.)
There is a reduced cost of pool and beach memberships this season due to the shortened season and limited use. Visit newtown-ct.gov/parks-recreation/pages/2020-eichlers-cove-beach-treadwell-pool-information for more information on hours and memberships. If you are a Community Center member with an active membership, an all-access pass is available.
