Occupation: I just graduated from Western Connecticut State University, on May 22, with a bachelor of arts in professional writing; I focused in creative writing. Now I plan to work with WestConn's playwriting professor, Louisa Burns-Bisogno, to build up my portfolio. Just last November, I decided I wanted to do screenwriting. Then, last February, I decided I wanted to write for Broadway, because it is more fun and the people are easygoing.

Family: I have two younger sisters; one is a freshman at university and the other is finishing sixth grade. My mom used to be an occupational therapist, but now she has retired for a few years to pursue other things. My father is a doctor that has worked everywhere and is working in urgent care. My dad's parents live with us six months out of the year in the summer. Then they go to Pakistan for the other six months. My mom's family lives in Canada.

What is your favorite play? My favorite play is a toss-up between Wicked and If/Then, which is Idina Menzel's show. Wicked is the best musical play, but If/Then has a much better story.

How long have you lived in Newtown? Well, this time around we have lived here for six years - and we all can't believe it! Before that we lived three years in Canada, before that three years in Newtown, before that four or five years in Danbury in different houses, before that we lived in Stanford, and I was born in Canada. In total, I have lived in Newtown about nine years.

What do you like to do in your free time? I like to write! I'm trying to write more now, but I am more inclined to read. I also like watching hockey. My favorite team is the Montreal Canadiens.

Do you have a favorite book? My favorite author is Suzanne Collins. Catching Fire would be my favorite book from her if I had to choose one, because it is where all the action starts and it holds the crux of the story. The Hunger Games is the introduction, and Mockingjay finishes it all off.

Do you have a favorite travel destination? That would probably have to be Disney World in Florida. I think it is interesting having the theme characters everywhere. I went there twice, once in 1999 and the other time in 2012. I don't like the traditional laying on the beach travel.

What is the best thing about Newtown? Well, obviously, the Creamery! My favorite flavor is Route 302 Chocolate Moo. And the Newtown High School was cool, because it had a lot of variety with their courses and had a lot of nice teachers.

Who has been the greatest influence in your life? Dr Louisa Burns-Bisogno, who is an adjunct professor at WestConn. She has supported what I wanted to write, and she gave me the Dramatic Writing Award last year. She also helped get one of my plays in the Newtown Arts Festival.

If you could spend a day with anyone, who would you choose? I would spend time with My Prophet Muhammad (Peace Be Upon Him). If it has to be someone from this generation, I would want to spend time with the actor Tom Hiddleston. He plays Loki.

Ayesha Ali is this week's Snapshot profile.

Do you have a guilty pleasure? I put my music on loud, and sing at the top of my lungs when no one is around, pretending I'm Idina Menzel or Kristin Chenoweth.
