Stanley M. Bernstein
Stanley M. Bernstein, 80, died on June 11, surrounded by his family, after a long illness.
A 45-year resident of Mt Kisco, N.Y., Mr Bernstein was born on May 6, 1935, in Brooklyn, N.Y.
He was the father of Judy Rosentel of Newtown.
Mr Bernstein was very involved in local government. He was a longtime member of the Mt Kisco Planning Board and the Board of Marsh Sanctuary. His passion was environmental issues in the town and greater area.
He was also a lover of the arts. Mr Bernstein was a member of The Bronx Botanical Gardens, Bronx Zoo, and the New York Museum of Natural History. He enjoyed the opera with his wife Marcia, as well as attending Broadway plays and ballets. He was a lover of classical music and made sure that he listened to it every chance he had.
Mr Bernstein loved to travel, especially with his wife and four grandchildren. Each one of his grandchildren had the pleasure of joining him on trips out west.
In addition to his daughter and son-in-law Steve, Mr Bernstein is survived by his brother Richard Bernstein and his wife Sandy, and sister Jody Bernstein; son Cyrus Bernstein and daughter Hilary Maxwell and her husband Ron; grandchildren Charles and Amy Rosentel, and Dominick Bernstein and William Maxwell; several nieces and nephews, and many close friends.
He was predeceased by his wife Marcia Rolnick Bernstein, his brother Leslie Paul Bernstein, his father Charles Bernstein, and his mother Bess Bernstein
Funeral services were held June 14.
