Woman’s Club Donations Top $10,700

The Newtown Woman’s Club, GFWC, recently gave donations totaling $10,730 to nonprofit organizations, a significant increase over last year’s $7,950 donations.

The fundraising was spearheaded by Marianne Scanlon, Rosemary Rau, and Patty O’Byrne, the Ways and Means Committee chairpersons, with the assistance of the club members.

The recipients of the donations included Kevin’s Community Center, $1,380; Danbury Woman’s Center, $1,200; Newtown Volunteer Ambulance Association, $1,140; Regional Hospice of Western Connecticut, Newtown Chapter, $1,140; Newtown Meals On Wheels, $600; FAITH Food Pantry, $540; GFWC/CT Adopt A Wing, $500; Newtown Scholarship Association, Newtown Woman’s Club Scholarship, $1,500; Combined Fire Department Insurance Policy, $350; C.H. Booth Library, $1,000; Summer Festival (Labor Day Parade), $200; Arthritis Foundation, $100; CARE International Aid, $100; GFWC/CT Memorial Scholarship (PHIPPS) $100; GFWC Woman’s Resource Center, $100; Hugh O’Brian (HOBY), $175; Special Olympics, $100; Edmond Town Hall Theatre seat program (Lions Club), $300; Veterans, $150; World Health Foundation, $50.
