Newtown Knights 7, Terryville 6 – The Knights rallied for four runs in the top of the seventh for the victory. Evan Barreto and Mike Coates reached on base hits and Nick Neves lined a single driving home two runs to even the score at 5. Nate Crevier followed with a single and Tyler Edwards (2 hits) walked. Then with two outs, Keith McGrath ripped a double to right-center to score the go-ahead runs. Jeff DiNicola, Jeff Spencer and Coates all pitched well in leading the Knights to their 6th win in seven games. Edwards made a spectacular diving catch in centerfield to lead the defense.

Newtown (#1) 14, Southbury 3 – Matt Nicoll had a run-scoring hit and pitched a complete game to lead Newtown to the win. Chris Tomascak had a pair of hits and three RBI while Brendan O’Connor clubbed an RBI triple. Patrick Coakley added a double as Brian Poeltl and Mike Hennessey collected hits.

Noyes-Ryder Capitol Management 12, J&J Pools 0 – Kurtis Liska and Michael Coates combined on a one-hit shutout to lead Noyes-Ryder to the win in the first round of the divisional playoffs. David Bray had three hits while Dash Jeffries had two hits. Liska helped himself with three RBI.

Hickey Septic 6, Lee Demers Builders 4 – Dan Poeltl and Stephan Hennessey struck out eight players in four innings. Andrew Kelly had a double and a home run and drove in five runs. Nick Heron had a triple and drove in a run. For Demers, Dean Demers had 2 doubles with one run scored. Harrison Snellback and Nick Barreto each had a double.

Hickey Septic 10, BASE Technologies 3 – Dan Poeltl and Chris Robinson had two hits apiece to lead Hickey to the win. Miles Lobuglio had a double and scored twice. The pitching combination of Stefan Hennessey and Dan Poeltl struck out nine batters in four innings of work. For Base Tech, Gary Braun had two doubles and scored a run.

BASE Technologies 18, Lee Demers Builders 4 – Ben Stoller and Gary Braun belted back-to-back home runs and Wyatt DePuy collected three hits to lead BASE to the win. Mike Scharfenberg and Andy Braun made stellar outfield plays. For Demers, Patrick Thornberg tripled in a run while Michael Koch made an unassisted double play at short. Dean Demers was also strong in the field.

Lee Demers Builders 4, Mastercard 3 – Dan Gustafson pitched two scoreless innings while Dean Demers tripled and Patrick Thornberg doubled to lead Demers Builders to the win. Michael Koch sparked the D with two strong catches in centerfield. For Mastercard, Nick Gerbo led the D with a diving catch in right that led to a double play. Second baseman Brock Chimileski, catcher Alex Roche shortstop Tyler Gibney and Vikram Makayee were also stellar on defense.

BW Retail Real Estate Group 1, Mobil 1 Lube Express 1 – On a rainy evening, after stopping the game three times, both teams were stuck at one run each when the game was called. For BW, Zach Aumueller had one hit at his only at bat to lead the team to a tie while Chase Wurtz made a stellar throw from deep center field to cut off a long hit and keep the runner at first.

BW Retail Real Estate Group 3, Fairfield County Irrigation 3 – Briana Baranowski got the key hit for the BW as a single late in the game resulted in the tying run. Sean Reilly led the charge by catching two strong innings and helped his own cause by going 2-for-2. Christian Hoffman, Baxter Hankin, and Brandon O’Sullivan each had two hits for Fairfield and Ricky LaPak lead the defensive effort.

AERCO International 2, Coldwell Banker/Bob Tendler 0 – Liam Decker went 1-for-2 and Kyle Mangold had a strong day in the field for AERCO. Peter Manfredonia and Kevin Ovendorf hit the ball well and Adam Israel pitched extremely well for Coldwell Banker.

Apex Glass 5, Coldwell Banker/Bob Tendler 0 – Jack Corbett, Glen DaMota and Victor Vasquez combined on the hill for the shutout and, despite the heat, Chris Hartley was awesome behind the plate for Apex. Knute Johnson had three hits and two RBI to pace the offense. For Coldwell Banker, Connor Roche played stellar defense and pitched a scoreless, three-strikeout inning and Kevin Conte led the offense with two hits.

Fairfield County Irrigation 6, Robert S Ponsky, DDS 4 – Matt Argraves and Christian Hoffman had three hits while Daniel Colucci added two to lead Fairfield on offense and Virgil Procaccini played superb defense. Nate Steinebrey and Sean McCafferty both pitched a great game and sparked the Ponsky D. Brendan Grant had a hard hit into rightfield and Colin Morrisey banged out two hits to pace the Ponsky offense.

AERCO International 4, Apex Glass 0 – Nick Carozza went 2-for-3 with a double and scored twice and Harrison DePuy pitched an impressive inning for AERCO. Harry Duffy and CJ Dunn each pitched great innings and Victor Vasquez had three hits for Apex.

Taunton Press 3, AERCO International 2 – Michael Cirone paced the Taunton offense with three hits and Ryan Rosenberger pitched a very strong inning and scored a key run. For AERCO, CJ Landgrebe was 2-for-2 at the plate and Anthony Sodosky anchored a strong team effort on defense.

AERCO International 4, Honeywell 0 – Patrick Rowley gave AERCO a great inning of pitching while Matt Hess went 2-for-3 and scored once. Callahan Brock did the job as leadoff hitter with Connor Miller going 2-for-3 and providing a stellar defensive performance for Honeywell.

Greentree Toyota 6, Associated Refuse 5 – Joey Carrino and Chris Daly stroked three hits apiece to power the offense and leftfielder Kai Hedin gunned down the tying run at the plate to preserve the win for Greentree. Michael Biancardi, Ryan King and Constantine Gregoire pitched scoreless innings for Associated Refuse. Deegan Beauchemin, Christopher Spalvieri and Clayton Gattney went 2-for-2 to power the offense.

Associated Refuse 5, Taunton Press 5 – Christopher Spalvieri, Connor Lemay and Curtis Giles were very impressive in their pitching debuts for Associated. Alex Klang was 3-for-3 with an RBI and Richie Sadlon was 2-for-3 with an RBI and run scored to power the offense. Robby Lasher and David Kent led the Taunton offense. Matt Linnell and Michael Cirone each made some great plays in the field.

DaSilva Law Firm 6, Greentree Toyota 1 – Andy Braun had three hits and Stephen Grasso added two and both Andy and Stephen scored two runs each to lead DaSilva. Logan Walsh and Jeremy Fellin also each scored a run. Patrick Berger turned an unassisted double play and Troy Frangione made the highlight reel with an incredible over the shoulder catch to lead the Greentree defense.
