Timmel Earns
The Eagle Scout Award
Christopher Anthony Timmel received an Eagle Scout Award during a Court of Honor ceremony held on May 15 at The Newtown Meeting House. Christopher was a member of Troop 370 in Sandy Hook.
Eagle Scout is the highest rank that a scout can attain. By the end of his seven years in Boy Scouts, Christopher earned 30 merit badges, served in many leadership positions, including Senior Patrol Leader, and completed a major community service project.
Christopherâs Eagle Scout Project was to lead the construction of a 16-foot bridge and a seating area along a trail between Sandy Hook Elementary School and Treadwell Park. His project also consisted of the renovation of the footpath itself, which services the residents of Newtown and particularly the students at Sandy Hook, who use this trail often for class outings.
Christopher has just completed his first year at New York University where he is studying elementary education.
