Singers To Star At Love & Knishes
SOUTHBURY â Area seniors are invited to enjoy lunch and entertainment on the last two Tuesdays of June at the Love and Knishes Lunch Program of The Federation-Jewish Communities of Western Connecticut. The programs take place in the social hall at the Walzer Family Jewish Community Campus, 444 Main Street North.
The food is freshly prepared each week by Chief Nancy Stokes and features healthful, delicious menus with everything from salad to dessert.
Lunch is served at noon and programs start at 1 pm. Two special musical programs round out this month.
On June 21, âSupper Club Songsâ will feature mezzo- soprano Helen Falcone, pianist Jeanne Hinkson and drummer John Colella. All three musicians are familiar faces to local audiences, and their program includes many cabaret and show songs.
The June 28 program is âA Medley of Jewish Songâ with mezzo-soprano Sharon Ruchman accompanying herself on the piano. Ms Ruchman, whose rich voices spans several octaves, has her masterâs from the Yale School of Music. Her program includes Yiddish melodies as well as Hebrew songs and show tunes.
Lunch reservations should be made by Friday for the following week. All programs are open to the public, and there is a suggested donation of $5.50.
To RSVP, call Debby Horowitz, Brownstein Jewish Family Service program director, at 267-3177 extension 105.
