Reed Orchestra Performs At Ashlar

The Reed Intermediate Chamber Orchestra, under the direction of Mardi Smith, performed for the residents at Ashlar last Thursday. Due to extremely hot weather, the concert, originally scheduled to be outdoors, was held inside and drew quite a crowd of residents.

“These orchestra students stay after school to rehearse a few days each week. They volunteer to play and perform beautifully,” said Michelle Hiscavich, music director for Newtown Schools.

The students involved in the Chamber Orchestra are Sarah Attanasio, Molly Berning, Rachel Camejo, Gretchen Streett, and Ishan Tatake on violin. The viola players are Jane Ellen Anderson, Austin Jones, Meghan Loose, Katie McMorran, and Dan Snyder. Patrick Binio, Brian Reed, Kate Siroky, and Kyra Smith perform on cello with Theo Hartlett playing the bass violin.
