NHS Student Attends Leadership Conference
Linda Chamiec-Case reported to the Newtown Rotary Club recently about the three-day leadership conference she had attended. Linda was selected to attend the Hugh OâBrian Youth Leadership (HOBY) seminar that was held for outstanding high school leaders.
In Connecticut sophomores selected from 109 different high schools who were selected for their exemplary leadership skills attended the HOBY seminar. During the seminar, the group of students had the opportunity to hear from several interesting panels that focused on ways high school students could become better community leaders.
Linda thanked the Newtown Rotary Club for sponsoring her so that she could attend the conference. She said, âThis leadership conference was exceedingly beneficial to me as a leader in the community and looking back I can conclude that I not only benefited from the information I learned at the conference, but also from the people I met and the relationships I formed.â
After the conference HOBY alumni continue to reunite to do a monthly service project for the Connecticut community. Linda plans to continue involvement in the HOBY organization by remaining active in the monthly service projects. She will also be attending the World Leadership Congress in Washington, D.C., this July for a weeklong conference.
