BROOKFIELD â A new exhibition of contemporary turned art works by 23 noted American woodturners will open in the Lynn Tendler Bignell Exhibition Gallery at Brookfield Craft Center on Sunday, June 19. Entitled âInnovative Perspectives in Turning,â the show will run through August 7.
Gallery hours are Monday through Saturday from 10 am to 5 pm, and Sunday from noon to 5 pm. A special artistsâ reception will be held on Sunday, July 10, from 1 to 4 pm, during which guest curator Albert LeCoff will talk about the work in the show and the artists represented.
Mr LeCoff is the executive director of the nationally respected Wood Turning Center in Philadelphia. His lecture will begin at 3.
âThe distinctive turners selected for this show all have a strong personal vision of how lathe turning can be used for artistic forms,â says Mr LeCoff.
Work included in the exhibition will range from traditional vessel forms to purely sculptural pieces. Along with many different species of wood, both common and exotic, many pieces will also incorporate other materials and media.
Participating artists are Trent Bosch, Robert Chatelain, Andrew Curle, Gorst Du Plessis, Charles Faucher, Dale Fisher, Mark Gardner, Dewey Garrett, Stephan Goetschius, James Harris, Bob Hawks, Jim Keller, John Macnab, Jason Marlow, John May, Marlowe McGraw, Michael Mocho, Mark Nantz, Joshua Salesin, Jon Sauer, Keith P.
