SHELTON â Health Net of the Northeast, Inc has named Robert Grossman, MD, of Newtown as the new chief medical officer for the company. Additionally, the company has promoted Scott Breidbart, MD, to the new position of vice president of medical integration.
Health Net of the Northeast is one of the tri-state regionâs largest health plans with approximately one million members in Connecticut, New Jersey, and New York, and is a subsidiary of Health Net, Inc (NYSE:HNT).
âDrs Grossman and Breidbart will be responsible for creating and maintaining the highest possible quality in our health care and medical management programs,â said Steve Nelson, president of Health Net of the Northeast. âOur goal is to create a better dialogue with our physicians, members, and employer group sponsors in order to improve quality, health outcomes, lower costs, and, most importantly, improve the lives of our members,â he added.
Previously, Dr Grossman was medical director for HealthGuard of Lancaster in Lancaster, Penn. He also was regional medical director and served as interim president for the Kaiser Health Plan in Poughkeepsie, N.Y.

Dr Grossman will lead the medical management team at Health Net of the Northeast and be responsible for medical management programs and initiatives. In particular, he will lead a staff of 180 physicians and nurses creating programs to provide members with precise, up-to-date information and tools to guide their choices in managing individual and family health and well-being.
A retired surgeon, Dr Grossman also is a medical examiner/coroner.
Dr Breidbartâs responsibilities will increase significantly as he assumes leadership of regionwide medical management initiatives, oversight of system implementations, coordination of disease management, and direct medical analytics and reporting.
 He will report to Dr Grossman and assume responsibility for the health care operations team. Dr Grossman reports directly to Bill Lamoreaux, chief operating officer for the company.
