Community Service Project Helps Media Center

Eighth grader Margot Isaacs recently donated an enormous basket of hand-selected books to Jean Bugay, Newtown Middle School Library media specialist. Margot, an avid reader, selected the books herself to be donated to the Media Center as part of a community service project requirement that coincided with her Bat Mitzvah. “The term mitzvah,” Margot said, “means to give back to the community.”

In addition to the book donation, Margot, along with several other students, participated in another community service project. The students teamed together to build and paint new bookshelves, and then provided the books to fill them to be donated to the Rainbow Safe House in Waterbury.

Margot was especially grateful to Petal Pushers Florist for supplying the beautiful basket.
