Kristin L. Meyer of Newtown was named to the dean’s list at James Madison University for the spring 2002 semester.

Ian Finn, son of Mr and Mrs Michael Finn of Sandy Hook, made the honor roll the first and second trimesters and high honors third trimester at Hoosac School. He is a junior.

Sarah Fairchild

Sarah Fairchild, a 1998 graduate of Newtown High School, has graduated cum laude from Elon University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in special education and elementary education.

Christopher Wynn Medinger of Newtown graduated from Pomona College with a Bachelor of Arts in economics, with a minor in media studies. He is a graduate of Wooster School in Danbury and the son of Charles and Betsy Medinger of Newtown and Elieen Medinger of Brookfield.

Wake Forest University announced that Eric Everett Putnam, a junior studying history, and Shannon Kate Rouse, a freshman, both of Newtown were named to the spring semester dean’s list.

Stephen Hettenbach of Sandy Hook graduated from the University of Rhode Island recently.

William Louis Georgia, Jr, is a member of the Junior Honor Society and received the President’s Award for Educational Excellence and Excellence in Citizenship Award at St Rose School for the Class of 2002.

Charlotte Maher, daughter of Peter Maher and Caren Nelson of Newtown, and Nicholas Caruso, son of Mr and Mrs Patrick Caruso of Sandy Hook, were named to the honor roll at Kent School.

Three Newtown residents were named to the dean’s list at King’s College. They are Brian D. Adams, Kevin Fitzgerald, and Sean Pickwick.

Erika Keeton, a 1990 graduate of Newtown High School, was awarded a Doctor of Philosophy degree with concentration in genetics from George Washington University May 18. Dr Keeton, daughter of Frank Krasnickas and Ann Krane of Newtown, graduated from the University of Connecticut in 1994 with a Bachelor of Science in molecular and cell biology. She is performing postdoctoral research at the Dana Farber Cancer Institute, an affiliate of Harvard Medical School. Dr Keeton resides in Watertown, Mass., with her husband John.

Mason S. Robinson, son of Mr and Mrs Jeffrey Robinson of Newtown, was named to the Clarkson University presidential scholar dean’s list. He is a senior majoring in management information systems.

Conor Lee Evans, son of Mr and Mrs Cliff Evans of Newtown, received a Bachelor of Science degree magna cum laude from Brown University May 27. He graduated as a member of the Sigma Xi honorary society.

Caitlin Sochacki

Caitlin Sochacki, daughter of Kathleen and David Sochacki of Sandy Hook, graduated from the Academy of Our Lady of Mercy, Lauralton Hall June 8. She will attend the University of Connecticut Honor Program in the fall. Ms Sochacki was the recipient of the following awards: Spanish Achievement Award, Journalism Award, Presidential Achievement Award, Lazalte Award for her dedication to Lauralton, and the prestigious Catherine McAuley Award for her achievement in academics, volunteerism, and Lauralton ideals.

The University of Rhode Island announced the following students who were named to the dean’s list for the spring semester: Betsy P. Earle and Thomas E. O’Hara; both are from Newtown.

Kristina Leone, daughter of Mr and Mrs Mario F. Leone of Newtown, was recently named to the honor roll at The Taft School. She is a graduate of the Class of 2002 and will attend American University in the fall.

The following students received degrees from Naugatuck Valley Community College: Cheryl Peatfield of Hawleyville, Kelly Bambino of Newtown, and Edward Cedor of Sandy Hook.

Amanda Ann Giannini

Amanda Ann Giannini, daughter of Mr and Mrs Duane H. Giannini of Newtown graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Spanish from Muhlenberg College.
