Police report they received a call about 10 pm, on June 14, from a resident of a home on the northern section of Brushy Hill Road, reporting that an unknown man had walked onto the property.

Police responded to the scene and investigated the complaint, learning that Andrew Korngiebel, 27, of 33 Greenbriar Lane, had entered an open attached garage at the Brushy Hill Road residence, after which he entered a vehicle within that garage and stole an unspecified item from within the vehicle.

Police said they lodged charges of first-degree burglary and sixth-degree larceny against Korngiebel. First-degree burglary is a Class B felony in which convictions result in a minimum five-year prison term. Sixth-degree larceny involves the theft of items worth less than $500.

Police report that a records check indicated there was pending warrant for Korngiebel on a charge of first-degree failure to appear in court. That charge stems from some pending narcotics charges against Korngiebel filed by Watertown police, Newtown police said.

Following Korngiebel's arrest processing, police released him from custody on $10,000 bail on the burglary/larceny charges for a June 30 court appearance in Danbury. Additionally, police released him on $350 bail for a June 29 court appearance in Waterbury.
